The amount of games I have that I have yet to get to is shameful, so let me just revisit the list of games I intended to get to during 2020 that I still have yet to:
Deus Ex (in progress)

Only gonna list PS1 stuff because honestly it’s hard for me to care about anything else when my PS1 collection is so stacked

If I had to come up with the 5 games in this list I want to beat or progress meaningfully in most this year:
Tales of Phantasia (PS): No other RPG has left as strong an impression on me in ~3 hours of play. Definitely want to see this one through to completion.
Chrono Cross: Super intrigued by the battle system after a short play session with it. Presentation also seems top-notch.
Ape Escape: Playing Astro Bot last year made me really curious what the original Ape Escape was like and I’ve loved it so far.
Crash 2: Been playing through all the Crash games in the N-Sane Trilogy on PS4 and this feels like the most well-rounded of the bunch.
Final Fantasy VII International: All of the FF7R hype has gotten to my head and I feel I should probably finally experience the whole thing. (My current save from a few weeks back is at Costa del Sol on disc 1.)
(Gran Turismo 2 is always on heavy rotation so it doesn’t really make it on the list, and if some day I can ride public transit again, Front Mission 3 is what I was playing on the bus before the world went to shit)
I see what you’re saying but I feel like Black Mesa (or at least the media) has built itself up as more than a mod and now has this weird pseudo-standalone game expectation hanging over it.
I’m all for it showing its roots but that wouldn’t be my personal interest in it as a remake.
