Quick Questions XV: Episode Prompto

cursory googling tells me that dodonpachi daifukkatsu / resurrection and daioujou are on ios… tbh i think cave’s last few games are kind of swagless and there’s just smth off about them but daioujou is one of my favs so probs that one?

I was going to nitpick about how DOJ is over-rated, SDOJ sucks and DF rules but they’re both pretty cheap so get both of them.

Thanks all yeah I got daioujou / blissful death and daifukkatsu / resurrection. really like DOJ so far, just credit feeding basically, might develop a blister on my finger from dragging it around lol

is using the autobomb feature cheating

I’ve run into cabs in the wild that have the dip switch enabled so I wouldn’t think so

Does Xenoblade 3 bring anything to the table that I couldn’t get from Xenoblade 1? Thinking emulation with fast forward is probably the best way for me to play these games but switch emulation doesn’t seem to have ff and xenoblade3 keeps crashing for me anyways.

I’m trying to prep for my big Labor Day gamer stream telethon and I have a big problem: this Batman game only runs at 640 x 480. I can run it full screen but tabbing out is iffy which is an issue since I only have a single monitor setup and I will be streaming.

I can’t edit the config; it’s a dat file and if I open it in sublime text I just get this shit

What do you call that again, is that hex something

Those are the folder contents! Does seeing them help any?? I don’t know!

I tried using Borderless Gaming but it just does this shit

The Batman in the center of the screen is static, the upper left actually runs.

Running in windowed mode I can’t resize the window manually, this thing got like no close/minimize/maximize buttons, it’s all locked up!!

Anyone got any suggestions on how to get this old ass homebrew game running at a higher resolution, I’m fine running it in a window if I can just do it at like 2x, shit’s hard to see as-is

if you can’t get a second monitor on short notice (easiest solution by far but I know it’s not necessarily accessible) try d3dwindower

dgvoodoo is able to hook the game. I’m going to do some testing to see if I can coax it to a borderless windowed mode and I’ll dm you how to set it up.

yeah it works right off the bat(man), sent you dms on discord about the settings but it should take less than a minute to set up and get working and you can bug me with any questions if need be

mod gives you a usertitle, just ask for what you would like

Alternatively you could use Spacedesk if you have an iPad. It runs on my ancient outdated iPad just fine. Obviously you wouldn’t want to play the game on the iPad screen over wifi though.

or Duet, still pretty stable at 30fps 1024x768 on my old iPad 2!

Thank you everyone the apps helped. I’d try and find a free/cheap monitor but I’m too busy trying to get my charity sorted, really gotta make sure I raise as much money as possible for charity this weekend!! It’s for the kids!! Or the reefs or the animal shelters or something I dunno, still haven’t settled on which fake charity I’m 100% not donating any money to!!

1 plays the simplest so theres merits to the sequels if you want more baroque anime action. but i dont think any of the sequels (bar dearest x) really dramatically outshine it. theyre mostly just iterative sequels with some improvements but their own sets of pros and cons. if you had a switch i would suggest just picking whichever you vibe with but since wii emulation is more conducive just go with 1, its all there

Mechanics wise, not really?

Storywise, it kinda only works fully if you have some attachment to the first two. I would really say playing them in order is the way to go.

@cask I agree that the battle systems in Xenoblade 1 and 3 are fundamentally similar, but I’d say the methods of input are so distinct that the games feel completely different mechanically. I vastly prefer playing 3 because it demands less attention to the battle UI. 3 maps actions to shortcuts whereas 1 requires constant scrolling through a palette. There’s also a lot more variety and customization for play style in 3 because it has a job system with skills and actions that can be mixed and matched with some limitations.

I also think the characterizations are more nuanced in 3, though the storytelling can be uneven.

Overall (gameplay and story-wise), I prefer the pacing in 3. I’m like 40 hours in and been having a consistently good time. I enjoy 1 too but only in chunks with big breaks in between.

3 is probably the best game in the series, yeah. Storywise, it’s…very dependent on the others though, so that’s part of it for me.

Having never played 2 and only played half of 1, I don’t feel like I’m missing much playing 3. I get that the setting and premise reference the previous games, and there are a few returning characters, but 3’s story seems to stand well enough on its own.

Is there any way to make text on this site bigger than this when making posts

will be interested to see if/how this changes with the last like 10% of the game.
