Discourse’s devs clearly have Opinions about disallowing certain types of stylistic choices they perceive as annoying, such as colors or huge text.
The tell indicating their exact sort of humorlessness is the built-in wordfilters. “!!!” appears as 20 exclamation marks in my edit box but Discourse feels that 3 exclamation marks ought to be enough for anybody
Looks like several companies were working on this already when we had this discussion 8 months ago, and today there are options without this downside.
There’s a Sony one and an Arctis one. The review site I linked gives the Arctis one a higher overall score because it has better sound quality, but I’m considering going with the Sony one for its better noise cancelling and lighter clamping force.
hilariously i bought the Arctis recently and am using it right now, it’s pretty good. the software is…kinda wonky though.
the noise canceling is not as good as the bose headphones i have but it’s pretty good! it also lets me use a bluetooth device and the 2.4ghz connection at the same time. i am currently listening to @HOBO 's stream on my phone and playing fortnite at the same time, it’s cool
My Xbone controller has developed a very pronounced rattle whenever the controller vibrates, the damn thing sounds like an LA Machineguns cabinet, to the point where I’ve been turning off vibration in any game that I play. Has anybody experienced this and managed to fix it? I’ve gotten a few good years out of this controller so I suppose if I have to replace it that’s not the end of the world. I think my old 360 controller still works fine, anyway.
The rumble is a spinning weight in each handle that sits in a plastic housing. If it’s shaking it probably means the plastic has cracked. You might be able to glue or improvise something. All it needs to do is hold the stem down while leaving the weight free to spin, and it’s easy to get to if you open it.
I’d say it’s an easy job with only a moderate chance of success.
I notice it says “Speakers” instead of headphones, could have something to do with this. Some computers have multiple 3.5mm output ports, one for speaker one for headphones.
If it’s just the one output port you could patch up the situation by getting a peripheral: either with a male-to-female 3.5mm cable with a volume control on it, or with a USB-to-3.5mm DAC.
Is there a Goldilocks solution to getting a good audiophile headset for couch gaming that is wireless, has a detachable/no mic, and doesn’t cost $400? My old PS4 gold headset is finally kicking the bucket and I’d like to upgrade to something that sounds a little bit nicer.
I’ve been looking at TV/surround headsets instead of gaming stuff but I’m not convinced the audio lag won’t be too high.
I guess the alternative would just be to run a 15 ft audio cable from my PC.
EDIT my friend sold me on some Sennheiser 560s with a 12 foot extension cable. Even playing Vagrant Story with them hooked into the motherboard (DAC/Amp on the way) I’m blown away but how much better and more immersive everything sounds. The clicks and clacks of the menus in particular were completely muffled on the PS4 gold headset it replaced. Considering how much time you spend in menus id say the headphones have already proven themselves worth the investment
It’s not a common enough loanword to make it into any Japanese dictionaries. Just a guess, but I notice some but not all English dictionaries include this secondary meaning, and it fits the usages I’ve seen in videogame titles/character names:
Is anyone familiar with what has changed between Age of Empires II Definitive edition and the previous version? This is the only game my dad plays, and according to him it had an update at some point that changed unit controls and now he isn’t sure how to play it anymore.
not sure what this means. going from muscle memory, stuff like building-specific hotkeys and unit management are still pretty much the same?
command-groups changed in the sense you don’t have to toggle every single trade center or archery range or whatever to mass-produce stuff and you can now queue techs and units, but that’s about it i think
