Mountain Dew and Doritos finally merge upon the release of of the marketing campaign for Dark Souls 4. It turns out this is the singularity we have been waiting for. All food is now either Mountain Dew or Doritos
Nintendo announces the Switch 2, a slight increase in power that is compatible with exactly 9 out of every 10 joycons, selected at random. It comes in three colors: Yoshi green, Donkey Kong brown, and Star Wolf grey. The US only gets Star Wolf
Barkley 2 comes out, but only one copy is made and Martin Shkreli buys it.
Microsoft releases a new console: The X-Car, Powered By Gamer Fuel, i.e. Red Bull i.e. Mountain Dew. It’s a car.
The Virtual Console finally comes back for the Switch. Only compatible with the Switch 2, every game costs $15 or more. There are 17 games, and the biggest seller is Wario Blast.
Death Stranding is cancelled when Mads Mikkelsen finally understands the plot and kills Kojima. As he is being arrested, his final words are “I had to do it! I’ve saved them!” He will never speak again.
The Dreamcast 2.0 comes out. It’s a rocket ship that Sega launches to the moon. Once it lands, it projects a gigantic image of Sonic’s face onto the surface of the moon. It is not visible from Earth.

Barkley 2 and La Mulana 2 are the only kickstarters I have funded, and one of them better make it out this year (it will be La Mulana, because their updates have said so and they are pretty open about things there).
Oh yeah Paprium was supposed to come out in 2017 and then got delayed for some reason and went silent. So hopefully they didn’t take my money and run!

I expect Shenmue 3 in 2020 at this point.
I’d bet on Final Fantasy VII remake seeing the light of day before Shenmue 3. I can’t even wrap my head around a series defined by luxurious excess shipping on a low-midsize budget on an unproven team.
Better if Yu Suzuki parachuted into Rockstar, gave the Housers a Hazuki style beatdown, and declared it his dojo. Put that epic art team to good use.

actually, all i am waiting for in 2018 is Ace Combat, tbh… everything else will be a nice surprise, and bought somewhere down the road. I kinda have that 2015 feeling again, where i wouldn’t mind just buying the last few games of this gen and then go back playing what’s on the backlog.
I therefor expect 2019 to bring on a slew of titles that’ll make me overthrow all plans, and i’ll see to it that i play some backlog stuff before that happens, new twist!

I’m still mostly just waiting around for Spider-Man and Red Dead 2 but I am going to add Captain Toad on Switch to my list.
That shit is going to be tiiiiiiiiight.
The Switch is currently my only gaming device. So far this year I’ve been enjoying Sky Force Reloaded and Dragon Quest Builders. I think Sky Force is a really satisfying action game, and I think DQ Builders is really pleasant to play without feeling very invested in it or gripped by it.
I too am looking forward to Captain Toad. I’m also looking forward to V-Rally 4.
