and in any event I really appreciate Nintendo’s commitment to making an entire game out of physics edge cases, but the shockingly efficient and clean collision handling was already in the last game
garys mod is all around us is the only thing i can think when i see people play this game
my switch has been broken for years so even though i have a copy of the first breath of the wild ive never been able to actually play it. been enjoying watching poobear’s playthrough with no HUD and no maps though
That’s often not the case for Switch Japanese-store game, which can be a whole different SKU that doesn’t need to include the other languages.
But actually, this game is one of them that has a worldwide unified SKU, if I changed my system language to English, Zelda’s text followed! So I suppose you could indeed go through the Japanese store for this to save $20 if you can find a Switch Yen gift card.
Also if you dislike rotating 3d objects in a very particular way you may not like this game
oh christ, I really dislike that. looking less and less likely that I end up with this one
huh. as soon as my thruster batteries ran out and i started trying to frantically rip the now-dead-weight thrusters off my glider mid-flight before they could pull me down i decided this owns
i’m surprised the object manipulation stuff is bringing the vibe down here so much, it’s felt pretty straightforward to me so far. you’re just picking up a log or whatever and clicking the dpad to snap it around 45 degrees at a time, idk
you can put a sword on the end of your sword. and there’s some kind of infinite miyazaki blood swamp
and there’s some kind of infinite miyazaki blood swamp
i’m back in
i actually think the rotation controls are amusing but yeah they are not intuitive for me at all. like bachelor, i don’t remember botw having so many damn controls.
I thought I could make my own cart using wood + wheels + fans but that doesn’t really seem to work which is a real disappointment
i got this to work. it turns out it’s fiddly as fuck because if you accidentally fuse any part of the wheel OTHER than the axel them shits won’t turn at all. on top of that, it’s hard to get clearance with the wheels. had to build it upside down like lego instructions.
Got about 100 yards with this piece of shit before I ran into a tree.
no sir officer this is my “archaic legwear” what a misunderstanding
i really like this game’s first impression like an unfortunately voice-acted metroid prime 2. perfunctory confiscation of power ups at the hands of purple goo. tutorialized meditation on how much your equipment is going to suck.
botw is the last power curve i recall enjoying (through equipment and hearts, no character sheet) so i hope there’s something as hateful as the spider ball guardian in here
i used rewind to get to a sky island on which i promptly got stuck (no water close enough to dive into) so it looks like i’m warping back to tutorial island. every time i tried to use the wings i just fell like a rock straight the fuck down. i’m being punished for my hubris. i flew too close to the sun!
edit: got off. had to 1) ultrahand the wings over a gap 2) switch IMMEDIATELY to rewind 3) in the time that the wings were frozen, step on them 4) turn off rewind 5) grab the wings sideways and climb on them as they’re falling down 6) wings stabilize and now i can fly with them
the gmod physgun takes 6 buttons to operate so i really sympathized with the guy i watched struggle to build a sailboat in this game
Who will be the first to make the gun that killed Shinzo Abe in Zelda
honestly now that I’m past where they introduce the new basic abilities I’m having a great time. it doesn’t feel as exciting as botw but it still feels real good. the open world is still so level-designy without ever feeling restrictive. feels good.
tried to turn off my boat motor and the whole thing exploded and trapped me under a log
janky ass magitek caveman simulator
I fused an explosive barrel onto the end of my sword, forgot I did that, and went to start the fans on my ridiculous deathcart and blew it + myself up
game rocks. The powers appeal to me and my ‘nuts and bolts is the only good banjo kazooie game’ sensibilities
My wife was sitting on the couch making fun of me for the vehicle I was making to deliver a korok across a river and I gloated so much when it actually worked exactly as I envisioned
how many korok seeds you up to felix
big vindication for all us nuts and bolts heads yeah… plus now i feel like i’ll never have to think about actually playing it again, what a bonus
See I never played Nuts & Bolts beyond a few minutes of demo and I didn’t play BotW and this feels like maybe a way to kill two birds with one stone.
Word on the street is it’s not miserable to play on a Switch Lite, either
