Weirdly, using a bunch of arcane streaming techniques, I actually could play Baten Kaitos on my phone via my PC. But something about that game slows down Dolphin so it runs at 20-25 FPS on my computer at various points. Which is enough to really irritate me even though it’s only 5-10 frames!!!
Actually due to the recent discovery of Gecko Patch Files (and a proof of concept being released this week enabling the GameCube controller adapter within the virtual Wii), this might not be the case in the future
God, I always forget about this controller and then someone brings it up and just… just…

I am still pretty curious about the Wii U Fatal Frame game. But it’s very expensive, and for all I know I wouldn’t have room for it even if I deleted a bunch of things. I suppose there’s no chance of a disc version at this point.
Of course, I’ve started playing three Fatal Frame games in the past and finished zero of them. I’m not sure why that is, exactly.
The first chapter is free? It was pretty bad.
it’s ok i guess. but its not scary or particularly enthralling or anything. it’s way too long and there’s no real reason to play more than the demo chapter
I think I also feel this way. Maybe just play FF2. It had cool winding level layouts that wrap around back to early areas (which reminded me of uh…Souls games) and probably the best ghosts.
I wanted to update this definite list if enough were added so after today…
Mario Maker- Super Mario World 3D
Wonderful 101Tokyo Mirage Sessions (the Persona x Fire Emblem JRPG)- Pikmin 3
- Fatal Frame 5
maybe?
New Super Mario/Luigi Bros. U- Paper Mario Colour Splash
- Xenoblade Chronicles X
- Pushmo World
- Affordable Space Adventures
If you really don’t want to keep a 3DS around
- 2 Mario vs DKs feat. Minis
- Yoshi Woolly World
Mighty Switch Force 2- Monster Hunter 3 U
- NES Remix 1+2 (some exclusive games though compared to the 3DS compilation)
Probably still the version you should play if you want it?
- Zombi U
lol
- Zelda Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD
- Dr Luigi
- Devil’s Third
- Sonic Boom
- Animal Crossing amiibo Festival
rip
- Game & Wario
- Nintendoland
- Kirby Rainbow Curse
- Star Fox Zero
- Star Fox Guard
There’s also a couple of somewhat notable mobile games that which’s only console port was the Wii U like Blek.
DrinkBox Studios’ touch dungeon crawler Severed also fits this if you don’t have a Vita.
I feel like a Super Mario 3D Land/World Collection is something one could bet money will happen at one point or another. Pushmo Collection could probably go as well. The rest of the games though are probably either too reliant on the gamepad or just were never successful enough to be considered worth it to port.
definitive
I still kind of want one tbh. I can’t believe they are still going for like $180 USD on ebay. Eternally coveted as the console for true nintendo murderheads
I swear they were going for much cheaper a few months ago. Did the pandemic drive up prices?
I ordered a cheap used copy of that Captain Toad game today.
cheap, used Toad for sale
I started up Super Luigi U today on my/formerly Felix’s Wii U.
I used up all my lives and had to continue. Twice. On the first stage.
Might be just a tad bit rusty.
You know I played through the levels pre-included in Mario Maker but never got around to playing any user created ones. I may be history’s greatest monster.
You and me both
These are the most perverse confessions ever made on this forum.
did Wii U CFW ever figure out how to boot game discs from a different region? I’m the lone fool who brought a PAL unit to North America
I am trying to decide whether to grab a few more Virtual Console games for Wii U before they stop selling them. Some would be just for convenience, as I own and could play them on other platforms. Things like Pikmin 1 and 2 and the two Zelda 64 games.
Maybe one or two of the many Kirby and Fire Emblem games I’ve never tried. Or even one of the handheld Zelda games. I have no idea whether any of them is decent after Link’s Awakening.
I think I will still give the Yoshi game a chance. My main problem with Super Mario 3D World (and I never did return to it after that one session) was the visual design. The Yoshi game is in 2D and seems to resemble Kirby’s Epic Yarn (which is a good thing), so I don’t think it will have any of the elements I disliked in the Mario game.
And I agree with you on Tropical Freeze. I did end up getting it (back in 2018 or so) and played through only a couple levels. Even the music was disappointing. Competent enough but just kind of generic. And the underwater theme was just the one from the first game but made boring.
