Further continuing not buying “new” games I’ve pulled my Wii U out of the closet. I guess I had fun with it at the time. I bought the Wind Waker edition used at a Gamestop. I played through that. I transfered everything on my Wii to it and then bought Breath Of The Wild and moved to Japan, with this Wii U in tow. I tried to sell it 3 times. It was impossible to so so.
Now I’ve pulled it out to hack it. I’ve grabbed 3 games to play on it. Maybe only 3! The problem is no outlets in this apartment fit the US power supply. So I have ordered a Japanese power supply. On most sites it is more reasonable to just buy a whole Wii U than just the power supply that’s nuts.
While getting everything meager the Wii U ever put out is trivial, getting Wii isos is tricky. I’m getting antivirus checks from the main site and seems to have disappeared from IA. Hmmph.
I’m maybe most excited about doing the Wii Homebrew again so I can play 16/8-bit lightgun games again. The Wii is an excellent way to play lightgun games on an HDTV. If I can get PS1 Point Break and Time Crisis going…oh boy. Virtual Cop would make me cry.
I’ll reveal the 3 games I grabbed…soon!
Also I found Resident Evil 4 Wii horrible booohhhh!!!
I recently played this in emulation. I thought the geo-politics of it were horribly insensitive and still too close to reality. The game was shockingly good. Probably for the best it kept freezing though.
Be one of like 5 people to have played Affordable Space Adventures. Play it in coop with someone
Nifflas was co-creator on Affordable Space Adventures and it’s legit a very well made puzzle game with probably the only good use of the wii u controller.
I just pulled my Wii U out to tinker with it this weekend. I don’t like to hold on to old hardware, but Sketch (from Game & Wario) and Fortune Street on it. I should probably just emulate Fortune Street and get Pictionary or something.
Oh wow I had this exact collection of games and didn’t know why. I deleted them assuming I had installed them through custom firmware and could get them back easily enough. I was making room for Tropical Freeze which, eh, I probably won’t actually play.
Kind of interesting to contrast the Wii U’s games, which aren’t so different from the Switch’s, with the it’s UI and memory management , which are both incredibly slow. USB 2.0 is not fast.
i bought @vodselbt 's a few years back because i was dying to replay super paper mario. i remember posting thinking about how mad some people would get it at because of all the backtracking but i beat the whole damn thing and still like the story of the stupid squigglies that love eachother
but now i have a wii u and no idea what to do with it. i could play affordable space adventures again i guess!
I didn’t bother with Splatoon sequels because having the map in front of me and being able to quickly warp anywhere was a big part of how I played the original and it wouldn’t work without the pad.
Rainbow Curse is great!
Game & Wario has some fun games but the coolest one (hiding your game from your mum) was ported to Warioware Gold
Had lots of fun playing Nintendoland last time I was in the bay area. Better than Pacman VS?? Which should have been ported to the Wii U. It’s on Switch but you need two Switches to play it
Wooly World needs to come to Switch, it’s better than the sequel (which was also good but not as good)
