I’m looking forward to some indie games (Lonely Star, Totem Teller) but I’m more interested in seeing how they’re made than playing them.

Barkley, Homestuck, Indivisible?, La Mulana 2, other games I back on Kickstarter years ago.

All this Armored Core talk has me hoping we’ll get a new one this year. Maybe VR? AC is probably the only thing that could get me to invest in VR at this point.

Seems likely enough. AC would be better suited to VR with the cockpit providing consistent points of reference and there’s this:

Animal Crossing would be perfectly suited to VR, you’re right

It’ll really make you want a bigger house when the walls close in on you.

Yupp, Ace Combat 7 will have VR support!

man, just imagining playing Armored Core and Ace Combat in VR is enough to sell me on VR. It’ll probably not happen tho, that’d be too good to be true …

A VR Assassin’s Creed would be puke central.

No doubt they will make one

Advent Children in VR would probably cause a lot of headaches but I could see it coming with the FF7R.

Looking forward to it! Underneath the Sonic veneer, I was surprised how much Freedom Planet explored other kinds of action resembling games like Rocket Knight and Pulseman, but done in a way that was both more open and technical. It didn’t fully work, but I’m glad to see they’re retaining that direction in the sequel but with some promising changes. Every new move they’ve shown (cancelling out of the dash, deflecting projectiles) looks like it could make the game more fluid and fair, and the more awkward alternate characters are being rethought. The colors and higher res art seem more bland, though; I guess it’s closer to some conceptual poster art ideal, but further from that impressionistic haze that some of 1’s environments had.

I bought GR2 last night to distract from the looming dread and I don’t regret it yet

meanwhile yakuza 0 looks way better than I was expecting and strafe announced a march release

this is on top of torment and nier which both continue to look pretty good!

yeah, I like yakuza way better than gravity rush, oops. nice surprise but I totally need to get my friends who like cute anime stuff over here to play my copy of gravity rush so I don’t feel like I wasted the $$$.

I’m pretty enthused that the two de facto contenders for best writing of the year are both coming out within a month or so

?

da

You weren’t asking me, but I’ll give you my answer anyway: the games I’m most passionate about are basically all interactive fiction already, and only becoming more so as the years progress. Something tells me an Oculus adaptation of (say) Counterfeit Monkey or We Know The Devil would miss the entire point.
