What have I missed on Switch?

Hi y’all. I barely used my Switch. So less so, that I put it in the closet two years ago and then just played Wii U with my kid. I have recently pulled it out and realized there were a few games I had wanted to get on it, then I forgot what they were. The last major thing is I bought Tears of the Kingdom, and played through Metroid Dread. I 90% of modern games play on PS5. What have I missed on Switch? Here’s the short list I have now:

  • Metroid Prime 4 lol
  • Blade Chimera
  • Night Strikers Gear
  • Time Gal Laser Disc Collection

Forgot if people here still like Devil May Cry 3 but the switch version has some new modes that the other releases don’t.

I like playing 2D games on portable more than on a TV.

I haven’t played these but they look good:
Rubato
Sondra Gomez

I started these and they look good:
Astalon
Black Book
Penny’s Big Breakaway
Pentiment
Saga Frontier

I played maybe too much of these and they were pretty good:
Silksong
Pikmin 4
Splatoon 2 and the Octo Expansion thing
Mr. Driller Drill Land

Gotta Protectors

I never really played the Bayonetta Baby game, maybe it’s ok

There was some Doraemon management sim that was on a bunch of famitsu dev favs list years ago. I never played that either. But I have it. If you know what I mean.

Spelunker HD Collection…

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is one of the best Kirby games. And it’s got nice easy couch co-op for a little kid like many Kirby games do!

Seconding gotta protectors, the switch one is the best.

This game is on steam too but it feels like a switch game. Maybe it’s the price tag. But it’s wonderful. I’ve never played any of those other full-price switch-era adventure game revivals like famicom detective club, but this is almost certainly the best one. Yuji horii added a significantly long framing story/epilogue for this remake which, i’m not gonna spoil it but it has this additional gameplay aspect that is interesting, especially if you know stuff about his career.

I posted this game when it came out and I ended up buying it. I did not regret it at all for 3.99. (Not so sure how I feel about their other game masala drive, sorry @grandpa)

Honestly, me either. It’s not that fun to play. The Brazil is a hoot though.

Super cool Switch games not mentioned already and not on PSN :

  • Paranormasights
  • Astlibra & Astlibra Gaiden
  • Drainus
  • Ufo 50 (3 games suffer from extreme slowdown and might not ever be fixed but they’re not the best)
  • Wilmot’s warehouse + works it out
  • Natsu-mon
  • Zelda Echoes of wisdom
  • Enjoy the diner
  • Potato flowers in full bloom
  • Logic bombs

Same but sickos only warning :

  • Full Quiet
  • Shinsekai
  • Wizardry the 5 ordeals
  • Fire Emblem Engage

I’ll just share my shelf here. I’ve gotten quite a lot of use out of my switch even if I’ve only actually played like a 3rd of this stuff.

If you told me that was a collection of Mao’s little red book I would have believed you.

I had a good time with Ring Fit Adventure but under very particular circumstances

I really liked Mario Odyssey, but it seems like it’s not very popular by most gamers.

Xenoblade 2 was fun but I had to skip the cutscenes. The game’s story and tone were not for me, but I loved the battle system dearly. Toppling enemies with combos that do colossal damage was like crack.

Ring Fit was a great covid game when gyms were closed.

Baba is You is a good puzzle game that’s also on other platforms, but I played it on Switch.
