Remember how every GBA and DS game was marked by who dumped it
how is this running smoother than SNES DOOM and with textured ceilings/floors?
it’s a very nonstandard mapper, the NES’ display system can basically accept anything this way
like it can “run” on original hardware mostly because you can feed whatever through an NES cartridge if it’s powered externally
ah so it has an additional computer attached

By removing the gravestones of those that came before us, mankind has traded the memories of their efforts for the false concept of purity.
that’s what a cartridge is
more and less so depending on the console and the lateness of the cartridge itself relative to that console, but yeah
Those intros were pretty mysterious to me as a kid on my Commodore 64. My copy of Double Dragon had an intro with a great arrangement of Blue Monday and I used to just leave it running and listen to the music and read the greetings and things that scrolled by.
At one point I copied that game for some kids I knew from church. A few weeks later they made a point of telling me that they liked the game but didn’t appreciate me giving them a game with cussing in its intro.
(My parents probably would have taken away that game had they ever seen its intro but they never paid any attention to what I did with that computer.)
I can’t find a video of that intro, but here is the song used in it. (There are tons of C64 arrangements of this song, but this one is my favorite.)
I also remembered that one reason I liked the Double Dragon intro in particular is that it was also followed by this one, which had an equally good song (Airwolf).
honestly that’s so relatable
That they’re called shoot em ups (SHmups) because most of them have you shoot up at the screen
I guess hori shooters oughta be called Shmovers
Shmovin’ out
A romhack of gradius with all the SFX replaced with Billy Joel noises
Never thought shmuppers would come up with a worse word than “vertizontal” but here we are.
i’m a bit doubtful about this … i thought it was cos you shoot them up rather than beat them up
