spent some time earlier tonight looking through the breath of fire artbook, for like the 5th time now? augh the character designs and the races and all the monsters and stuff are really cool. i wish there were a breath of fire ttrpg or something. or even just an actual new breath of fire game maybe

i decided i’m doing a guest lecture for the 101 games class here about kusoge and i’m wondering if people here have particular recommendations/literature on the subject i should definitely check out on it. obvs have been googling but i don’t want to leave out anything big.

Maybe that’s not a very related thing on videogame, but on wargame.
Jason Matthews, the designer of Twilight Struggle and 1960: The Making of the President , share a topic about politics in wargame. He especially mentioned the history of US politics and warfare and the origin of CRT (combat results table).
Most of the members from Avalon Hill was related with DOD at 60s, the mind of Robert McNamara inspired and influenced them, it shapes the basic model on wargame: CRT. which means everything could be quantitative measurement.
Even though it has been proven wrong many times , but this mind of quantification is still take root in all walks of life. War on Terror in real life, New best-seller game from The EA and Ubisoft, High exposure false information recommended by twitter and facebook, high efficiency workers controlled by the amazon algorithm, everything is run in the same ‘CRT’, Aka ‘McNamara fallacy’.
That’s make me think a lot.
