There’s not a whole lot of games that have the word “Reign” in the title, but there’s a lot of expansion pack subtitles that are about someone reigning.

how my anti-rpg era coincided with the era that the ps2 was my main console, so as a result, i think the only ps2 rpgs i’ve played are ys vi and steambot chronicles

I think I am still shook from a few weeks ago when I saw multiple “I used to trust IGN reviews but they’ve sold out and just pander to the game companies in the last few years” posts I saw on reddit .

Billy Mitchell, despite being a dirty no good Donkey Kong cheater, is actually actually good at Pac-Man. I saw him playing it at a convention years ago and he was just absolutely destroying the game.
If he was satisfied with just being the Pac-Man guy he never would have had a fall from grace.

I forget if it was an hbomberguy video or something else (maybe just Iain Banks’s Player Of Games) but one thing that someone said that stuck with me about this kind of thing is that people who are good at games, and have an ego about it, often think they deserve to win. Like he’s probably really good at Donkey Kong too. But he doesn’t quite reach the goal, but thinks he’s earned it and that’s what pushes them to do anything to get that record. Hell, he might have even managed it without being recorded, then couldn’t reproduce it so decided he should just make a video to represent it. It’s no excuse but I definitely think that anyone who cheats at that level (and isn’t immediately caught) is already at a high skill level
