videogame things you think about a lot lot lot lot lot lot

I’ve infrequently heard Tank Healer Rogue but I think Rogue lost to its function. Maybe it should just be called Damager

Does anyone have any opinions on “pulling aggro”

aggro is the initial attention you get (pulling mobs) and anyone calling threat (the amount a mob hates you in the current moment of battle) aggro is wrong and I hate them

I baselessly demand these two interchangeable terms be delineated as to satisfy my whims

THIS IS COMBAT. YOU CAN DIE IN COMBAT

IF YOU DON’T WANNA DIE YOU HAVE TO USE AGGRO

I think it’s interesting that MMO players’ need for real-time communication led to their establishing a lot of videogame jargon like this, often naming things that precede MMOs by many years. For example, Doom’s “monster infighting” could be rephrased in terms of pulling aggro

live-service games are only good when they get old enough that they have to start doing intense word lawyering to continue the powercreep treadmill and not accidentally buff stuff they aren’t trying to actively sell you
