I just signed up for a free trial on Showtime.com, they’re on there. I think you can cancel immediately and still watch for the next 30 days.

great thanks!

I had only seen the David Lynch episodes of the TV show. I watched Fire Walk With Me and the first two episodes of the new season pretty much in a row.

Fire Walk With me is a bit too self-congratulatory and unnecessary imho. It’s been a while, but it feels like the entirety of it was already alluded to many times in the show, and seeing it was not better than imagining it.

Absolutely in love with the new season. Feels like having creative oxygen pumped into one’s lungs. Super glad they aren’t trying to recreate the original show, what would have been just sad.

Welp this was perfect

I mean I don’t even really consider myself a Lynch hyperfan but this hit the blend of the show and flick so squarely I gawped

Just utterly lost in and loss of time, a smartphone being a literal jumpscare gag

Only seen the first two so far…

Log Lady’s scenes are just devastating.

I half wonder if her illness was the impetus for bringing this back, like Catherine called David and said, look, I’m dying, if we still want to Go Back There, it has to be now. Can’t have Twin Peaks without Margaret

She died in '15, so I feel like they filmed her scenes before anything else, before they even had a TV deal or a script. And the whole thing came out of what they filmed together

That’s how I prefer to imagine it went

Ummm so I’ve just discovered I accidentally watched the 4th episode not in fact any of the previous 3 and was not in the least bit phased

Lol

that’s good

I’m kinda loathed to roll back now honestly

Cold opening in a casino works a little too well

i did that w the first season of Baskets, i think it was also episode 4 and also featured a casino heavily. a v good way to approach that show too.

Did roll back, reminded that oh yeah Lynch likes trashy sex scenes i.e. all sex scenes doesn’t he

can’t tell if i want the michael cera scene to be 40 seconds longer or 5 minutes longer

somehow it feels like a parody of Shia Lebouf in Indy 4, but that could just be the outfit

this is gonna be the soundtrack of the summer i guess

“fix your hearts or die” is my motto too

Yeah that raised a megagrin

Cera’s scene is an outright parody of The Wild One starring Marlon Brando. Presumably the same movie was one of the inspirations for Indy 4.

Unrelated, but…

1991:

2017:

(the change is consistent in all black lodge scenes)

Just finished the first episode and yeah, this is way better than what I expected. Not sure why I was expecting a terrible nostalgia throwback from David Lynch, but I’m glad that’s not what’s happening.

Also watched the first few minutes of episode 2. Matthew Lillard is, as always, impressive.
