oh my god I only just now found out apple is supposed to be turning the fireman’s theater into some kind of fucking apple store, or I had wisely suppressed this information from my memory last time I heard it

I binged the entirety of Twin peaks Season 3 in 5 days with my gf recently and my brain went into theory consumption mode. It was fun to read this entire thread to see the journey of actually watching this series as it aired.

I hadn’t watched a single Twin peaks thing since like 2012 (I’d only seen the original series and FWWM). Having my memories of characters and scenes dredged up from the riverbed by season 3 was a really cool way to watch it. Episode 8 (Gotta light?) was sublime and I can’t believe it made it to broadcast television.

I’m considering reading the Frost books and The Missing Pieces but I feel like I could probably just get all this info from the wiki and not miss much.

The Secret History is a fun read, but don’t bother with the other one

The Secret History manages to keep out of Twin Peaks for like several hundred pages. So, like the third season, I guess, you could be in for something different than what you’d expect or want. The Final Dossier is like a direct sequel to Season 3 and you could safely peruse some wiki entries and come away with a experience similar to reading it because it’s so brief and supplementary like that. I did think that The Secret History was better than The Final Dossier, though it didn’t need to be as long as it is. They were both pretty atmospheric and had their moments, but I wasn’t a huge fan of either of them.

The Secret History and The Missing Pieces aren’t essential but definitely worthwhile apocrypha

I consider The Missing Pieces absolutely essential. It’s the bridge between 1990 twin peaks and 2017 twin peaks

I think that’s just Fire Walk With Me, with or without the missing pieces.

missing pieces is closer to the style of s3 music usage and editing wise
