yes and its gross. original run denise was an affirmative depiction all considered but now that we have lynch writing “yes i’m indebted to you dear ally and owe you for life for treating me with decency” after the “remember when you were dennis” bit it seems to paint that a happy accident

this is very much Same Old social conservative Lynch but given how sharp the larger picture is there’s certainly nothing better out

Hm, I didn’t read it quite as negatively as you, though I’m not trans (but a trans friend said they thought the scene was “fine”).
Pretty much where I’m at right now is that Lynch is on notice and if he doesn’t counter bad gender stuff with some good, fleshed out women roles, I’m going to be unhappy. But I’m hoping that’s not the case, especially considering his last few movies with strong women leads.
I’m now expecting Coop to get apprehended by one of the crews stalking Dougie, but they’ll have figured out something weird is going on and try to take him back to the casino. A standoff will ensue with casino management/security, which is when I expect Hawk & company to show up.
