this whole episode is full of gamer gender anxiety it rules. rampant AI that feeds on Male Aggression and exclusively manifests in latex boots even when they clash with the rest of the outfit. did you know girls play video games too… and sometimes they’re even better than the boys :nail_care: [scully machine guns 10 identical sexy cowgirls]

seeing this show turn into shortsighted social commentary weekly issues thing must’ve been really frustrating for fans but it makes for some entertainingly unhinged viewing 20 years later

the cops episode was really dire tho

i love reading people’s live reactions to shows. i love doing it too. godspeed!

X files really is the best 90s time capsule. The way it blends Kennedy assassination hangover with post Waco paranoia, leveled up Twin Peaks lo-fi network TV Weird, and every dumb proto reality TV gimmick (unsolved mysteries, rescue 911, cops, etc) is really magical.

ok the doggett season is real rough (gillian anderson acts like she’d rather be anywhere else and i can’t hold it against her) but all the T1000 jokes are a nice touch

i’m desperately trying to reduce my fred armisen intake i haven’t even watched los espookys a show i would probably like otherwise. but the first episode of the new season of documentary now is about a herzog like character in the mountains of russia making a cbs sitcom called Bachelor Nanny so i am once again doomed to gaze upon him

I still want that Earl Mac Rauch version of Neuromancer.

Was that the book he did after 2016 where a huge chunk of it was a utopian imagining of what the world would be like if Hillary Clinton won?

Edit: Apparently that’s the sequel I’m thinking of.

I guess if this show really sucks they can just wait 20 years and rerelease it black & white…

ehhhh I thought the Hilary book was a weird standalone thing, not a sequel but apparently you’re right

I liked the Peripheral quite a bit when I read it years ago, but the trailers for this came off a bit generic. I guess Gibson has the same curse as PKD where adaptations generally just take the basic sci-fi hook and insert it into a cookie cutter action thriller, devoid of pretty much all of the author’s style
