been watching season 3 of buffy the vampire slayer with some friends. faith is such a good character~ she acts tough and independent, but she really craves an authority figure and someone who cares for her.
you see it first when gwendolyn post (the evil fake watcher) comes along, and even moreso in her platonic d/s relationship with mayor wilkins. and even later than that in angelās spin off series when she goes to la to try and goad angel into a fight to punish herself

finished watching the mpd psycho tv series. an interesting story, though i watched each pair of episodes months apart as i gradually got ahold of the dvds. iām sure iāll watch it again someday in quicker succession, maybe if i ever have a friend willing to watch gross subtitled stuff with me.
also the final scene takes place at comiket with a bunch of establishing shots of cosplayers, and since the show came out in 2000, iāll have to screenshot them for the cosplay encyclopedia thread at some point.

I have gotten really into the third season of True Detective. Great performances all around. There are some seriously affecting bits of drama every now and then too. Itās funny how popular the first season is when I am starting to think the most interesting stuff about this series is all in the seasons no one ever tells you to watch.
every episode of the rifleman is the guy telling his kid not to hang around some new guy who drifted into town cause āheās a killerā while spending the entire series stacking up a massive bodycount and going to bed each night with righteousness in his heart

watched Our Friends in the North over the last week. hell of a show. i think itās mostly aged really well, to the point where the '95 episode probably hits harder now than it did during peak new labour optimism.
i have small critiques of the A League Of Our Own amazon show but they arenāt fairytale-ing the history stuff that bad and a lotta cute dykes play baseball so iām enjoying it after two episodes

Really enjoyed Midnight Mass a lot. I didnāt care for the last ep, which is a lot and just kind of a boring mess, but everything leading up to that is really fantastic and enthralling.
I would say the more you learn about the nature of the supernatural element, the less effective the show gets, and the more the show turns into āI am going to directly quote the Bible at you for a whileā - I think itās a good idea that this wraps up after 7 episodes. Probably shouldāve been 5.
Great acting, great pacing, cool mystery.

Best thing about that episode is that scully stays at home so you get a window into her off-duty life. Itās mostly spent cleaning guns in the dark like sheās Cobra.

Iām in the hellscape of season 9 right now and the only thing holding this goddamn show together is the charisma of Agent āBig Doggā Doggett. I count two decent eps this entire season, one particularly fun one involving my boi Michael Emerson manifesting the entirety of the Brady Bunch via loneliness-powered reality-shaping telekinesis.
