Speaking of Romhacking dot net, this game was in the Featured Translated Images sidebar:

I was amused by the game description

i love love love it when someone translates a game they don’t like. i always have so many questions for the person but i’ve never been brave enough to ask…

Uncovering the long and complex history of sexy horse girl games may not be pleasant, but it is a burden that must be carried for the sake of the advancement of scholarly knowledge.

I believe this is what Benjamin was saying when he wrote:

Harvest Moon SNES randomizer.

There’s also one for Save the Homeland.

This hack made me wonder if Harvest Moon players had like Nuzlockes or something. The first crop you see is the first one you use, the first animal you get is the only one you raise, the first lady you see is the only one you can romance, etc.

there is definitely a trend in animal crossing right now for a self imposed “hard mode” with it’s own particular limits on crops and trades and even a community of player flea markets on sundays

Oh, that’s kinda rad. I like how ridiculous the idea of a hard mode Animal Crossing is. I don’t know the specifics but I love to imagine it from a villager’s perspective: welcoming a new villager but they refuse to talk to you because they’ve already zero-ed on their first villager they encountered and will only talk to that one villager for the rest of the playthrough, seeing them sitting alone in their house quiet and furious that the only thing they can furnish their house with is chairs because that’s the first furniture they got, filling the town with a million apple trees because they only got apples this run, etc.

I’m sure a hard mode run is a bit more lax than that? I dunno but I love it

How will this affect Stellar Assault’s ranking as the best 32x game now that it is available in English elsewhere?
(yes, I just listened to the 32x Hinge Problems episode)

Wait, how is this different, it already was under the name Shadow Squadron?

^ Site’s still going and updating the list. The FF1 randomizer

seems really cool, works with the FF1 Flash Reduction patch (actually covers the worst of the flashing itself), does all the quality-of-life stuff for which I was going to have to use two other hacks that also did stuff I didn’t want–the re-translation, for instance–plus the randomizer can do a whole lot more of course.
