trading cards you like

They have decided to put “Masterpieces” in each set. Reprints of expensive cards (not standard legal) in foil and with its own frame. In Return to Zendikar (one of the worst blocks in a long time) they made a Masterpiece cycle of lands (called Expeditions), in Kaladesh artifacts (Inventions), and the frame was not bad.

And now the theme is “Invocations” which is not only vague but also has that ugly frame. Two things that show how awful it is.

It is really hard to know at a glance if a card is or is not a creature because the stats are barely visible. And for multicolor cards there is no clue that tells you what colors they are because the symbols have no color themselves.

But hey, new bolas next set. And I really like this card.

I really missed “Final Fortune” effects.

EDIT: It still hurts me that they nailed a frame design in Planar Chaos and decided not to use it.

Cannot quote this hard enough. Planar Chaos was the point my interest in Magic reached its peak, with a gradual climb to reach that point and a gradual tapering afterward.

Anyone play ASHES? The cards look very hygienic, while not my favorite art the game is good.

I’ve played Ashes a few times, but haven’t ventured into custom deck building. I like the way the dice work (and look).

This is another Magic card that I like because I’ve found myself thinking a lot about what the mechanics are supposed to represent.

Given the name and the claws, you’d think that whatever it did to you would be pretty violent. But if it dies, its victim returns good as new. What actually happened in the interim, and is the target truly the same as before?

I really love how this card’s mechanics reflect its theme.
(Ya’ll should play Netrunner).

I like those netrunner cards that let the art take up most of the space.

My one problem with ccgs is that they have all this great art confined to a tiny space and then overdesigned graphics around them.

Someone would like Cardfight: Vanguard! Well, except for the great art part.

Since we’re here let me “summon” my entire problem with YuGiOh in one dumb ass meme.

Your problem is dick jokes?

Yeah, all of netrunner’s full bleed cards are pretty nice. They’ve started putting out championship decks from its worlds competitions that have full bleed art and they make the standard cards feel so dull. I’m hoping that a company like fantasy flight isn’t so precious about its style book that they wouldn’t consider a blanket redesign.

always.
But in this case. They are both to the level you can play either card on a turn. But one is better in every aspect with no weaknesses. Yu gi oh has a mile of trash cards.

plus the cards are sharp-cornered

What the hell is an enchantment artifact?

In Theros they made all the things related to gods enchantment. So you had enchantment creatures and enchantment artifact.

Enchantment creatures is something that Maro says he wish it would have existed since the beginning, so you can use it for things like spirits or so. The same way that instead of instant the game from the beginning had sorceries with Flash instead.

Hmmhmm HAHAHAHAHAHA! Did you say “No weaknesses”? Godamn_Milkman, it seems like you haven’t really studied this game at all! Now I will show you what a true master of the cards can do!

YOU’VE SET OFF MY TRAP CARD!! GRAVITY BIND!!

That’s right! Gravity Bind stops all monsters of level 4 and above from attacking! What’s more, it stays on the field until destroyed!! With none of your monsters able to attack, it seems like this duel might be over before it’s even started!!

(ok you are totally right there are loads of useless cards, but also there are quite a few cards which make useless cards good again. gravity bind was a very common card when i started playing. also don’t play yu-gi-oh with anyone who picks a better card over making a card they like viable via a combo of 3 other cards, it’ll be boring)

I kept buying cards in the hopes that someone local would play with me but alas

and eventually there were too many cards for me to keep up with and I dropped the idea of playing netrunner with people :frowning:

it’s a DOPE game tho, says the other person with a netrunner art profile pic

Netrunner is pretty cool, yeah

I was originally really lucky to fall in with a group of nice Netrunner people back home when I started playing. If you’re looking for people to play with in real life it might be worth seeking out the “Netrunner Dorks” facebook group, which might put you in touch with some nearby players (and is generally a nice group populated with kind people who love the game).

It’s actually a pretty decent time to be returning to the game. The card pool is definitely too big right now, but they’re going to be cycling out 240 cards (the first two data cycles) pretty soon, and there are also some fun limited-card pool formats at the moment that people are really into. Onesies is the unofficial one, and FFG just announced an official version of it called Cache Refresh.

But yeah, you could get up to date by buying one or two of the deluxe expansions and a couple of the card packs from the last Data Cycle (which was power creep as hell but also fun?) I’m also down to play on Jinteki any time if you want to try out some recent decks and see how they feel! (athough Jinteki seems to be down at the time of me posting this).
