is this from the fire emblem game???

No, it’s from a smaller TCG called Gate Ruler. It’s extremely niche, but I really enjoyed what I played of it. It’s very straightforward in how it plays (hand sizes vary 0-3 cards based on the deck type), but the cards are designed well enough that every turn still feels impactful due to the card combos you can do.

I heard that Fire Emblem TCG was real good though. I’m surprised Intelligent Systems felt comfortable saying “we feel done and want to get back to work on video games instead”.

A coworker and I unwisely met up today at a local game store and each bought a prebuilt Flesh and Blood deck to try the game out. We haven’t even read the rules yet but we plan to play within the next few days. I don’t remember the last time I tried a new CCG. When I was in college, I guess.

From my vague understanding of the game, it seems like it would have some interesting strategy. But I think the theme might be a little too generic to hold my interest for long. This is the character that caught my attention initially, since it at least has some kind of horror thing going on.

Flesh and Blood didn’t come with printed rules and I’ve been too lazy to watch their tutorial video so I still have no idea how to play it. Let me know how it goes.

After swearing off physical card games last year due to how expensive they are, playing Cardfight Vanguard Dear Days is pulling me back in. Maybe I’ll just get the starters so I can at least try out stuff. There’s a ton of new TCGs (One Piece, Battle Spirits, Shadowverse Evolve, Union, that Disney thing).

I don’t think this counts as a card I like, but it is adjacent. This is a playmat I like. This is the paper playmat that comes with the The Caster Chronicles starter deck “Magical Dream 7”. This was a short lived TCG from the people who make Force of Will and it somehow got an english release for a couple of years.

It may not be immediately obvious why this is a playmat I like, so lets zoom in.

It seems the English publisher could not get a copy of the raw artwork and had to just write the English text on top of the Japanese text! With this kind of production quality no wonder it didn’t do too well.

Flesh & Blood is the second best card game I’ve ever played (after Netrunner)! Levia is a fun deck. I got into the game with the Levia starter blitz deck myself and then slowly tried out different things. I think the game’s best strength is that each hero and class play very differently and have distinct mechanical sensibilities (as well as flavour sensibilities). If you have an idea of different kinds of archetypes you like in other card games I could direct you towards a good hero to try out. The next set is going to “The Pits” which seems to have big Blighttown energy, if you’re interested in the horror-themed stuff.

I came across this unofficial guide that’s pretty helpful:

https://www.reddit.com/r/FleshandBloodTCG/comments/wbqa1m/flesh_and_blood_unofficial_quickstart_guide/

I’ve only played Dorinthea so far. (In addition to Levia, I picked up that “classic battles” thing with the two decks because it’s supposed to be a good intro to the game. Funny that not even that includes any kind of instructions on how to play, though it’s specifically for new players. The printed book it comes with is just stories about the world or whatever.)

It’s interesting how each card in your hand has several possible uses and you have to decide which use makes the most sense. One turn I chained together several attacks and my opponent had no cards at all next turn after defending against it all.

With these games, theme and art are generally the most important factors for me, and then I just work with whatever mechanics I’m left with based on that. I think several of the heroes in this game look kind of boring or silly in their pictures, so I will never use those ones.

I really love the expressive scratchy artwork of Humankind tcg - and it plays real good too.

but I love a lot of the wacky names of moves on older pokemon cards with this being one of my favorites.

I’ve only managed to play Flesh and Blood twice, but I’ve spent a lot of time researching what (cheap) cards I can add to my decks. (I manage them in an Excel spreadsheet.)

Immediately upon seeing these, I knew I needed to replace Levia’s axe weapon with them.

They aren’t all that different functionally (though I think they are an upgrade), but they sure are more fun aesthetically. And they even print left and right versions.

I also got the card that lets Levia summon this thing. Haven’t yet had a chance to make that happen, but hopefully next time I play.

Playing Brute with claws is always so fun. Not much compares to getting to attack with both for 5 with go again whenever you play this, so so good:

Here are some of the spoilers from the new set which I like a lot.

Also impressed how they somehow made something as mundane as a bow quiver look like the coolest thing ever:

babar and retaxus?

I’ve been halfheartedly collecting the 1994 Monty Python’s Flying Circus trading card set since I was in high school. This week, I finally got the last of the base set that I was missing, and also the rest of the bonus cards other than the foil ones and I guess one promo.

They intentionally made it a little difficult to tell which cards you’re missing, by skipping and repeating numbers in a few places.

I’m sure I could have spent a lot of money on eBay at any time for a complete set, but I think I got the first few in packs at a store and since then I have just occasionally picked up cheap random assortments on the Internet. So if anyone else here collects them (highly unlikely, I know), I have some duplicates.
