THE WII SUCKS... or does it???

list of potentially worthy wii games:

pandora’s tower
sin & punishment 2
rodea the sky soldier (just the wii version)
fragile dreams: farewell ruins of the moon
shiren 3

what is the sb wii hermeneutic

edit: forgot opoona im so sorry

tatsunoko vs. capcom rules even if the baroque system is wack

hey speaking of baroque, is the wii remake good?

baroque is an alltime top 10 game for me and i think the remake is “fine” but inferior to the original so i decided to omit it, especially because it was also on ps2

if you’re recommending Pandora’s Tower and Rodea I’m intrigued

I keep mine around for S&P2 and Rondo on VC and that’s pretty much it tho I do have a $2 flea market Elebits idk if it’s any good

wait! Little King’s Story! I foolishly sold my copy but that pretty much concludes my Wiissentials

also: I really appreciate Treasure letting you use a gamecube controller with S&P2 idk if I have a clear preference re: accuracy but holding a wiimote is not always a chill time

Wii Sports Golf is genuinely amazing. The courses are 3D versions of GB Golf!

The ambient sound and OST are impeccable. The clack of the driver against the ball when you make a good shot is like diazepam.

It’s also one of a handful of games that really plays to the consoles strengths.

those konami rebirth games are good.

please respect zangeki no reginleiv

Best version of Resident Evil 4

a version of Castle Of Shikigami III (starring Time Gal!)

idk if I’m recommending this given I haven’t played it since it came out but I really enjoyed Zack and Wiki back in the day.

I never played Last Story but I liked Fantasian enough to want to check it out (famous LAST words)

Would say Fatal Frame 4 although the remake’s out soon

The rhythm heaven game is fantastic although the 3DS game is still the best

Maboshi’s Arcade belongs in the national library of congress

Wii Sports rules

The Wii was my Rock Band 3 console. Maybe the transparent sunglasses didn’t show up on some stages, there was no Rock Band 1 import, and we didn’t get the second shop with all the small time metal core and Christian bands or whatever, but the controllers were always cheap and plentiful, and the leaderboards were wonderfully under populated.

The Wii is an excellent way to play SNES and Genesis lightgun games.

Hacking one is so trivially easy that it feels like a trick.

Regeilev seemed exhausting to me.

It has The Worst 3D Mario (Galaxy) and The Worst 3D Zelda (Skyward).

I never played Wii casually at a normal person’s house. This is a perfect description of my 20s.

I hooted and howlered when Sonic shows up 30 seconds before the ending of Smash Wii.

I’ve played 3 hours of Pandora’s Tower (owns), 30 minutes of Xenoblade Chronicles (Numbers), and all of The Last Story. I cannot remember anything of TLS outside of Gears + JRPG.

Thinking deep over here, did I keep Sin and Punishment 2? Where is Sin and Punishment 2? When did I last see Sin and Punishment 2. I thought it was great but I certainly played through it once and never went back. Did I bring my copy to Japan? Feels like I did. Huh.

Fragile Dreams is pretty but you spend 80% of it in a drab sewer.

Light gun games and Kororinpa.

I could not stand how ugly the Wii’s video output was compared with the GameCube’s. like they tried to make everything progressive scan and widescreen despite using the same ancient GPU which had looked great on an old 480i CRT. I could not look at a single Wii game without getting annoyed. had to give it away immediately and was only able to tolerate the library through emulation later.

I was so annoyed at everything in 2006!! like a neverending stream of “what are you assholes doing??”

wario ware smooth moves is my favorite proof of concept launch window game

brawl was alright

mario kart wii was so bad holy shit

sin and punishment 2 was so good i had to remind gamestop to open the shipment box

hacking it to use as a c. 2008 emulation box was smaller than anything else

i actually like this one quite a bit, deep mechanics and all the original courses are excellent. my biggest issue with the game is trying to unlock everything is extremely obnoxious. honestly, i think the physics in this one might be my favorite from the period comprising Double Dash to 8DX (modern MK). feels real good to go fast

we play kart games at different levels but the rubberbanding AI and long acceleration curve stick out in my memory as things i was relieved to see change in 7/8

fyi rubberbanding in MKWii is actually constricted, if you go fast enough they absolutely cannot keep up, and even showering you with blue shells will not be enough for them to catch up

there’s a long valley before you are able to go fast enough to outpace the rubberbanding, though

totally justified

still see a lot of the wii virtual console on japanese youtube/twitch. maybe one day i’ll get round to reginleiv and pandora’s tower…

Damn I can’t believe that thread was 7 years ago. I was wondering why we were having this discussion all over again
