The threeds is 10 years old.

Legend never dies. It’s the Yankee Doodle Dandy edition of Yokai Watch! This is going to be a real weird localization

picked up my big red 3DS and played some SFIV for the first time in a while, and when the full 3D slider is turned all the way up, there’s something incredibly charming about the scaled down graphics that make it feel like the diorama-like vision originally laid out pre-launch

it’s a great little port of that game

I’ve been playing through BoxBoy and Crashmo a bit over the past couple weeks.

They are both pretty swell.

I have updated the thread title.

I recently re-hacked mine and went looking for the 4 games I would never buy because who cares at this point. I think the release of Persona Q2 meant the end for both the US and Japanese markets.

What an ignoble death

Sort of looking forward to playing through the rest of my backlog on this piece and then divesting myself of it (thank you, growing aversion to Owning Things)

Of course because my brain doesn’t operate on any kind of logic, I sort of want to get my hands on a Boxboy amiibo

this is the best thing we got out of the depressing death of the 3ds

thread title has been updated.

Turned it on and my SDCard had corrupted so have to do a tiresome process to reinstall every bit of software and then maybe I will try and play those 4 games I stole like I said last year.

The 4 games in question were:
DQIX
Labrynth of Kanata (thought you had done an article on this @loki )
Game Center CX 3 (bought haven’t started it maybe this week!!!)
Rocket Slime 3

Gotta update the thread title.

My RP2 almost breaking did make me think “time to play my hacked 3DS that I hacked and immediately put in the closet forever.”

I just wanted to play like 4 Japanese games on it (and then I never did so I guess I didn’t want to play that badly lol.)

Did not know 3ds hacking was at the point that it allows you to run DS games off the SD card now

Oh dope.

Update on this from a year ago:

Game Center CX 3: Horrible
Labrynth of Kanaya: Dungeon Crawler with anime girl and novel features, but Dungeon Crawler so naw
Dragon Quest XI: lol

Was that it? Maybe.

What’s the final verdict on the 3DS y’all?

I don’t like holding one but that may just be All Handhelds.

There was a window with the WiiU and 3DS where I found myself oddly pleased with Nintendo. I mean, the 3DS looks really unfortunate next to father and grandfather, but things like 3D Land, Pushmo, and Link Between Worlds showed that they could make things that were mechanically novel while being informed by their very first great designs. Thinking about my personal experience with it now and not looking anything up, I most remember

  • Playing through the entirety of Super Mario 3D Land twice over one week.
  • Playing through SMT IV, one of the few RPGs not named Dragon Quest I’ve ever made it through.
  • Subsequently lending the game to my friend who finished it in half the time
  • Playing Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest while staying at my friend’s place over the summer in Keetmanshoop, Namibia.
  • Trying Crimson Shroud five times
  • Dropping my future wife’s Yoshi 3DS from the top of a staircase and cracking the screen :frowning:
  • Playing a bad Pikmin

I hate the 3DS and DS for regularly having games with control schemes that caused me physical pain.

Some of those games were very good though.
