i dont like this
youtube enshittification comes home (probably nothing we can do about this but i wanted to complain about youtube)
whoa! what the fuck. i’ve never seen a captcha in an embed before
did this eventually sort itself out?
if not, try clearing cache. i couldn’t reproduce with the same theme. it looks like the matching logo component also isn’t loading
i was able to reload and click the title to view on youtube at least
just out of curiosity were you signed in to youtube/google on safari?
i’m not, maybe that was the issue
i mean, it shouldn’t be imo but that might be why i haven’t encountered it
oh yeah it went back to normal like the next day
I just got this for the first time in my usual Firefox browser
, trying to play the YouTube embed of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHvOYbqU4gQ

The text:
Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it’s really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?
This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. The block will expire shortly after those requests stop. In the meantime, solving the above CAPTCHA will let you continue to use our services.
This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. If you share your network connection, ask your administrator for help — a different computer using the same IP address may be responsible. Learn more
Sometimes you may be asked to solve the CAPTCHA if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly.
The Learn More page says
What Google considers automated traffic
- Sending searches from a robot, computer program, automated service, or search scraper
- Using software that sends searches to Google to see how a website or webpage ranks on Google
It showed my correct IPv6. I am signed into Google/YouTube and editing videos on the YouTube Studio site, which is what I’m usually doing.
Edit: Oh hm I’m getting this on another site with YT embeds too. Well. Perhaps Google are having a bit of a thing.
Does anyone else have to kill the firefox shortcut app on Android? I will be using it fine, then check on the site 30 min later but the app will just launch to a gray screen. And then after I kill it, the app takes a bit longer than I’d expect to load, but is fine after.
yeah this happens to me. because of of this i use firefox for everything except those shortcut apps, which i use chrome for. this also happens on my cohost one as well though. i assume it’s just my busted ass phone
Is Search Broken?
Search results for 'kobold @Tulpa' - selectbutton 2 returns 1 result for me but not this post from the 30th of August.
weirdly adding the thread ID makes the result show up properly
https://selectbutton.net/search?expanded=true&q=kobold%20%40tulpa%20topic%3A7741
I believe it just shows the chronologically first matching post per thread unless you drill down into the thread.
oh i see, thanks for the help both of you
I am still getting post position jump randomly but just got this visual error. More a heads up than a call to action.
today the “youtube video you watched up thread starts playing again” thing happened only it survived moving pages … like it was still going in a different thread, and on the index screen. don’t know if thats a new thing or not, i dont remember it happening before.
stupid tip for discourse: if you want to search for mentions, you have to use the following syntax which i have never seen in any search engine before in my life:
" @vastlecania "
Yes, that’s quote space at symbol name space quote
. the spaces are important.
THATS HOW YOU FUCKING DO IT???
