I feel kinda meh. Will probably be a slightly late adopter like I was w PS5. Nothing is dragging me there day one. I missed the price of the console so maybe that’ll sway me
I have bad news
Dang that’s more than I thought. I’m likely travelling around the time it comes out and I know what I’d rather spend on
oh yeah they (veeeeeery briefly in a sizzle reel) also showed a new FAST game by Shin’en and that shit looks great (FAST Fusion)

still haven’t played RMX because it’s one of the Switch games that doesn’t emulate perfectly yet
the art direction of duskbloods looks really really bad imo, otherwise they’ve given me enough to go on to buy one. I really love forza horizon and I would’ve put money on “open world mario kart” being the launch game a year ago, so I’m happy
donkey kong looks more like a treasure game than anything
I thought DK looked bad and then DK grabbed a chunk of earth and whipped it around and I realized it was good actually
Switch/Switch 2 incompatibility issues coming up
I may be more likely to pay the Switch tax for multiplatform games on this hardware.
whoa whoa whoa
is this the first time a company is charging more for physical than digital? has that seal finally been broken?
I mean, Limited Run and their ilk were pioneers at this.
yeah, but that’s kind of different, still. certainly they paved the way by showing these companies that folks will pay more, but i guess i’m surprised the math works out for them to be willing to have their games compete with their manufacturing of said games
I read somewhere that the carts don’t actually have the game data on them? Is that correct?
Am I gonna want this??? hmmmmmmm. IDK IDK.
Only some of them, I think. There were a number of Switch 1 games this was already true of, so makes sense, I guess.
mainly just want to play New Games and go through the Xenoblade series so this might be the thing.
Yeah, it does make me wonder if they are doing only limited print runs or something to justify it. Which would be silly, but it’s not like they didn’t do that with the mini consoles, so.
this is pretty decent, especially if more of these are fixed
there are 12,186 games listed on MobyGames (nintendo is saying 15K, not sure where they have that but maybe that’s more accurate)
there are 141 games that don’t boot
there are 50 games that have issues
1 game (toy-con) is listed as physically incompatible so i’m not really counting that one
141+50=191
191/12,186=0.01567372394
1-0.01567372394=0.98432627606
so an initial (hopefully improving?) 98.432627606% compatibility across over 12 thousand games is more or less acceptable to me. sad that there are so many arcade archives releases in there, that’s a bummer of the ones i skimmed thru
OH one more awesome thing from the direct was they showed an arcade port of Ridge Racer. sick.
What they’re doing is making it part of the packaging when a game requires a data download (for example the FFX HD collection requires X-2 to be downloaded but X is on cart)
So they’re just signposting a thing everyone does already
Kong of the Wild (channeling Wreck it Ralph) looked pretty cool
Ah sonuvabitch they added some stuff to Kirby and the Forgotten Land that’s how they got me
Overall I’m more interested in this system at launch than I was for the Switch. I may or may not be a day-1 purchase I’ll see. Maybe if I knock out my Switch backlog first and can trade it in to take the price down a bit
All the “why no OLED?!” takes out there, well duh so they can sell us that one in 3 years
