A Switch 2. Without Mario Kart.
Did you order it from GadgetHyper…I keep wondering if those would get slapped with huge tariffs.
I did and I was not tariffed, I am pleased to say that I have been nailed with zero import duties despite continuing my wily aliexpress buying ways (in comparison to when I lived in Canada who is not currently facing public uproar about this when I would get nailed with import duties on innocuous purchases all the time)
I’m not sure how much is it manufacturing issues and how much of it is that everyone except me refuses to pay more than a small premium for OLED…
At any rate I’m also still rocking my OLED Galaxy Tab S6 instead of downgrading to a Galaxy Tab S10
Play one of the Switch 1 games that got an update or upgrade. I’m sure you have at least one.
Supposedly The Witcher 3 and some other games have uncapped frame rates, it’d be interesting to see if those run better. There’s some footage of Echoes of Wisdom going around that…it looks smoother, yes but it’s hard to tell if it’s the footage or if there really are little hitches and stutters still present.
My partner is standing in line at Best Buy to get a Switch 2 for her nephew at the midnight sale.
She reports that a Best Buy employee walked next to the line hawking the Best Buy credit card. And 2 people in the line actually signed up
I went to Best Buy because the app said I could pick it up. They meant I could stand in line.
Who even are all these nerds.
Good lord there is one game for it and it is gonna win the mindshare of this year.
I am living in the Mario Kart World.
isn’t it a little weird that there is no criticism of this launch that features one video game, which also happens to cost $80
I think there was initially but the people who genuinely can’t pay aren’t part of the conversation and everyone else has resigned to the argument that ‘this is really what it costs now’. I’m out this launch mainly because there’s not enough to play and I’m doing OK for games elsewhere. Nothing I am frothing for
They held them back from reviewers, apparently!
The one thing I actually really want to see is how some games that struggled on the Switch 1 do on the 2, maybe especially those that aren’t going to get any special patches.
Apparently Deadly Premonition 2 runs at a locked 30, which I understand would maybe sometimes happen on the Switch 1 if you stood still.
in all fairness, the majority of people getting said game are only paying 50 bucks for it
also there’s been a lot of grumbling over the physical game situation (a chunk of potential buyers have two games on cart: Mario Kart and Cyberpunk), there’s already a whole ass video of a guy sexually excited by HDR roasting the screen in the unit, LOWER THE PRICE, outlets are rightly pissed that they’ve had no pre-launch access to generate coverage from
seeing as most people who want one at launch are getting one at launch from hearing the numbers stores have in NA this morning, I think just having stock is papering over a lot of issues
just decided to wander into my local target 90 min after opening just in case and came away packing
All I keep seeing are Buy A Handheld PC Instead articles
Some of those handheld PCs are probably pretty good now that you can replace Windows 11 with SteamOS!
Switch 2 feels more “premium” than switch 1 in the hand. I like the new kickstand and joycons. Gave it the “rygar test” and didn’t notice any egregious lag. If arcade archives and other original switch games end up with more lag than on the switch 1, then I will regret buying this thing. If there is an improvement in lag, I will be very happy with my purchase.
I have no interest in Mario Kart or any of the launch titles but will pick up Daemon x Machina 2 when it comes out. Ideally I hope to see some frame rate improvements, but not expecting this unless the game is actually patched. I’m still holding out hope that Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires will be actually be playable now. Will try that later today.
