Switch 2 (part 1)

Yeah, some big ones:

  • Not every game is a “Game Key-Card”. In fact, most of them are not and have the game on the cart
  • Game Key-Cards can be transferred and sold to others, they don’t have a paper key.
  • “Nintendo Switch 2 Editions” of games have the upgrade files on the cart. It’s not a separate download.
  • The Japanese model of the Switch 2 is not “region locked” per se but is locked to Japanese language and Japanese online accounts.
  • In North America there is no price difference between physical and digital games. This is only a thing in other regions.
  • In North America, Mario Kart Tour costs $79.99, not $90.

It is here in this judgement-free zone that I admit in strict confidence that I too procured more than a single Switch 2 unit. I did not expect all of these orders to go through. They’re going to friends.

I am still technically in the NSO lotto and TBH if I get picked I’m probably offering it up

or I’ll forget or Nintendo will tell me I won on my Switch and I’ll never see it

Just under two hours of over-the-shoulder Mario Kart World footage. I’m only glancing at it while working, but some of the courses look reassuringly good (some seem dull, maybe in part because of the speed).

People are going to get so confused by MicroSD Express cards and wind up accidentally buying MicroSD Extreme cards and wondering why they don’t work.

I hadn’t looked at the price of MicroSD Express cards yet, but wow are they really 2-3x more expensive than normal MicroSD cards!? That’s wild.

That’s me, I’m already confused. Just gonna wait until one is one sale on Black Friday or whenever

To be fair they are like 10x faster than normal MicroSD cards.

yeah they are actually really cool imo, microSD has never ever had “better than a spinning drive” throughput and especially not on writes, and these do

Do you think at some point Nintendo will put Wii U games on NSO and you’ll be able to buy a Nintendo Wii U™ Controller for the Nintendo Switch 2™ in order to play the Game & Wario games that require a tablet?

This is so wild, feels like everything that could’ve been leaked about the Switch 2 has been leaked now before it’s launched. Has any other system previously been this bared naked before reaching the hands of the public?

In their simulated performance test, Monhun Wilds ran like garbage but I hope Capcom does trying porting to Switch 2 anyway. It’d be nice to play portably plus they could reverse take any optimizations they made for the Switch 2 and apply it to the every other build, making them all run better too. Praying hands emoji

so hey if you signed up for the NSO lottery, even if you already have a system ordered, you can also get accessories and Nintendo seems to be shipping orders out on June 4th

probably just snatching up a charging grip unless I find someone who wants to take my 2nd system off my hands

all I knows is emails went out today. you can always go to their store logged in and see if you can add to cart

I also didn’t get an email, I have been really half assing getting one of these. turns out “willing to drop $500 at launch but not to make an effort at it” is not a useful category to be in
