That they’re actually labelled “Nostalgic” makes me sad.
Decent Costumes
They appear to be doing the KI strategy of tying a percentage of DLC sales to a tournament price pot.
But yeah it’s really pricey.
A stage made pretty much entirely of recycled assets is the most expensive piece of DLC in the game.
Its a good idea in theory and it worked for KI as there was a big incentivize. If they raised, what I believe was $200,000, in purchases of the Shadow Jago skin to help fund tournament pots. MS and Iron Galaxy would make Shadow Jago into a real character with his own moveset. They hit the goal in 2 days(!!) and turned Shadow Jago into a “real boy”, then made him available for purchase to everyone else (As he was a limited edition before that) for $5 which still funds tournament pots. They talked about doing another “Remix” character to fund tournaments as well.
$25 for cosmetics and a low effort stage is a bit much. Especially since it’s near $30 for PC players since there’s no bundle. I’m still not picking SF V up till it’s actually, y’know, finished. But man Capcom is handling this awfully. Even DoA5 will get you a lot more costumes for your $5 and that game is whaling central.
Nice avatar.
I am a big fan of vanity being expensive. Games with cheap vanity are trashy.
This is a sentiment that I don’t get. Like any other fighting game, this game will never be finished, only eventually abandoned. There’s nothing to add into this game other than a potentially never ending list of characters and balance changes, all this other stuff they are asking you to buy or care about is fluff. This is like not wanting to play 2nd Impact in '98 because one day 4th Strike might be released.
I’d like them to:
If these are fluff, I’m done with this genre because we should demand at least the quality of life we’d get out of 15 year old emulators.
The core game is fine but it’s like… everything else around it is so half-assed. Stuff like the survival mode unlocks are the dumbest thing.
I would not ask capcom to reduce the input lag issue now. All the characters have been balanced against it and this would basically break the game. But it would be good for a season k update
Yeah, I don’t expect them to just flip a switch on it, it’d be something that would require some planning.
But, uh, c’mon. It’s 2016. This is ridiculous.
This is totally legitimate. But most of the time it works okay, the netcode here however flawed is better than anything that isn’t GGPO. Emulators don’t have any kind of ragequit punishment? Like, annoying, sure: whether or not you get meaningless points at the end of a fighting game match changes very little.
Input lag also totally legitimate. I think everyone would prefer it not exist. But, again, it’s 3 frames more than SF4 and the game is obviously playable at the highest levels as-is.
All fighting games have problems, and some of them are way more game-affecting than these things and people, probably all of us, have been playing them for twenty years. If its fun, play it; maybe it’ll get better maybe it won’t but it will never be perfect or finished.
Also, I think they’ve soft-confirmed they’re going to try addressing input lag after Capcom Cup 2016 is over. Could be BS, though.
The rq thing is like… it’s not so much the points issue as it is… Why is this a problem at all? I can think of at least a dozen fixes that would take less than an hour to do. Every other service handles it. Yet we get nothing. Why? What systematic problems are going on here that are preventing them from doing anything? Surely their engineers can do something but their hands are tied somehow.
(I can definitely understand if the Linux/SteamOS port has been delayed forever or effectively canceled, but it’d be nice if they’d say something instead of stonewalling us and hoping we forget.)
Damning with faint praise
You’re right. It doesn’t make sense. But whether or not it does or doesn’t doesn’t change anything about playing the game.
sorry, i just have higher expectations of quality of life in 2016 than “see, the game works”
i think a lot of other people do, too.
I gotta agree. No matter how good the fighting engine/character balance is, the controller setting menu is still clunky af (seriously this shit is wack. Why can’t I just tap out my buttons and be done with it) there’s still no arcade mode and the loading/phone home times are too frequent and much much too long so I’m just gonna play 3rd strike online with my friends instead where none of these things are a problem.
Any amount of attention on the quality of life aspects of this game would have madeit much easier to bear. As it is, just getting the heck into a match is a chore.
The completely horrendous implementation of the Lab Zero driver on the PS4 version is also something we cannot let slide. It’s not usable the way they did it, period.
I don’t mean “Complete” as in the typical FG “Complete” we’re used to over the past few years because revisions are part of the genre.
I mean a more I’m not paying €60 for what is essentially an early access game that still doesn’t even have a basic “Vs CPU” option incomplete. Cause that is still plain not on.
This is like not wanting to play 2nd Impact in '98 because one day 4th Strike might be released.
to be fair no one played 2nd Impact
