Star Wars Thread Episode II

obi wan really got a top tier selection of muppet head boys just a real treat to look at different guys in monster masks

this is increasingly becoming the main reason i still follow star wars stuff, love to see what weird guys they come up with

The use of prequel footage in Kenobi is hysterical. They used a shot of Anakin driving a speeder perpendicular to the ground and laughing for an Obi Wan nightmare

go whole hog and put a clone wars scene in there cowards

it might actually give the kenobi/anakin relationship some pathos instead of being unintentionally hilarious

Kumail Nanjiani as a spaceport coyote was great

the Alderaan scenes of this areā€¦ perplexing. they feel like a crack at, like, very broad family entertainment when that is realistically not the audience here.

theyā€™re getting better and better about their fixation with low lighting though

was almost hoping by the end of the first episode that the series would focus entirely on obi wanā€™s dead-end job at the meat mines and his steadfast refusal to take any sort of action in the face of others being in farcically worse and worse predicaments

thereā€™s some surprisingly good character work in this so far (well, in comparison to boba fett at least (lmao)), but by golly do these villains suck ā€” just the dumbest possible evil toadies

look, Iā€™m not saying I hate children, but I swear to god if leia organa skywalker is in this show for exactly three more minutes Iā€™m asking for a refund from rarbg

Star Wars doesnā€™t deserve him

I like Leia in Kenobi and put down Mandalorian for a year after Groguā€™s introduction

The Organas asking her to refrain from making people cry rocked lol

yeah i suppose fan backlash for this sort of thing is inevitable but my main thought after that episode was ā€˜this is the least bad child actor that has ever appeared in a star warā€™

no issue with the child actor, but after the first half of the episode, realising what the rest of the show was going towards made me sighā€¦
but im all in on them using the prequels footage, thatā€™s my shit.
(this is also the first of the live action shows iā€™ve watched at all)

i am all for star wars trying to retcon leia into being of equal importance to luke in the saga. it is kind of sad that the only way they can think of doing this is just showing her get kidnappedā€¦ againā€¦ though, tbf, the attempts to make us think she was intended to be anything more than a damsel in distress in ep iv which started in rotj were also pretty half assed.

the flying nun shit in last jedi was so unbelievably good

On the other hand, donā€™t show me Darth Vader ever again, thanks

Okay this show is a true, pitch-perfect successor to the Prequel trilogy. I kind of cannot believe how well they re-created the mind-numbing torture of an Episode II in 2022.

In the first two eps we are introduced to Baby Leia, a character we must endure scene after scene as this 10 year old actor - god bless her soul - flatly delivers lines no child would ever say. This is an absolutely deranged decision after what we all went through in Episode I.

Inquisitor A: ā€œā€¦Remember, this is no ordinary jediā€¦ Kenobi is the last ember of a dying ageā€¦ extinguish himā€¦ā€
Inquisitor B: ā€œConsider it doneā€¦ā€

Leia, 10 year old: ā€œThatā€™s what youā€™ve been hiding! They took me to get to YOU!ā€
