Star Wars Thread Episode II

oh yeah rebels is great. it was somehow much easier for me to be on board with all the weird stuff they add to the lore in that show compared with clone wars, well the darth maul stuff is ok, i never really got that enthused for all the stuff thats trying to create some kind of jedi ur myth or whatever

the empire should just be pompous white english racist guys, not fucking blue alien guys

This was my assumption, which I’m “glad” to see was correct, but good lord, how many empire analogues can you cram into like 15 years of history

thrawn is basically this, at least in rebels. there’s like a whole thing about how much he admires all of the various cultures his empire is genociding, he loves to collect their exotic art

it feels like whoever was driving the narrative choices during last jedi’s development and production bled over into rebels or vice-versa because it was a brief period of irreverent playfulness before jon favreau made a show about a helmet and a plush toy

rebels also leaves open a door for nonlinear/interdimensional stories they haven’t afaik touched on again

incidentally it’s more interesting for palpatine to want, say, expansion through time and dimensions than a fleet of death star destroyers imo

Nothing about Palpatine is interesting

what about his sex yacht?

they do kind of extend the nazi/empire analogy into an interesting dimension in the last few episodes of Rebels by making them basically be Indiana Jones pastiche, with the empire and the show’s main characters racing to find various occult artifacts and stuff. much better wannabe Indiana Jones than Rise of Skywalker, by the way, which I am still convinced Abrams made as his stealth-audition to do an Indiana Jones movie

the blue guy looked like musk in that trailer

you’re not invited to the blitzball opera

anyway this show looks more interesting than the mandalorian or boba fett because it features characters but the crew appear to be mostly returning from mandalorian/boba fett

intrigued that filoni is the sole writing credit for all (?) eight episodes on imdb after only writing a handful of episodes for mandalorian/boba fett. he was always the charlie bucket heir

expectations tempered

i’m still just assuming that this will not have an ending and is all homework for the Filoni Super Movie

why bother even making these shows when this screenshot basically accomplishes everything needed to satisfy what appears to be their target audience

its not the same guy. they brought zahn in to write him again in the new canon novels and he basically just adapted stuff from old thrawn. he has an incredibly similar backstory up until vader and palpy die, at wgich point the story you’re expecting to unfold does not and he helps the imperial remnant slink off to the unknown regions (hes like the only chiss in star wars space remember) so they can secretly reform into the first order. it is very very funny to me that they are just straight up adapting shit from the EU now, like thrawns new canon backstory still involves the outbound flight mission palatine sends out of the galaxy that people always use to justify the empires existence against the yuuzhan vong its just not called outbound flight anymore. somehow I only know this because I randomly read about it a few months ago

also im pretty sure they left that gap between 6 and 7 so they could have room to shove shit like thrawn in later, hes gotta be disappeared before the movies happen

Do they keep his force-exempt slave assassins?

lol sorry I forgot to post this but i looked into it and yes, he has at least one assassin and he showed up in rebels. its the same kind of alien. i dont think this guy is a slave though it said he likes to work for thrawn which implies he has a choice

Seriously jimbo just give me 20 minutes of your time. I believe I’m the only person who could convince him of the cinematic value of the star wars

I consider every person not exposed to star wars to be blessed

but if they have to experience just one star wars that captures the fullest extent of its cultural value, they should watch the holiday special
