You can always count on Sega to do the worst thing.
did anyone else have intrusive, high-quality musical thoughts during the final boss
i couldn’t wait on the professionals to get around to this
yes i know the high note in snow halation is not in the key but
i’m interested in this but uh should i wait:
Sonic Frontiers’ director says the game “still has a long way to go”
“We take this seriously as a global playtest.”
live games are a curse
there’s no DLC plan besides the promotional cosmetics and the game very definitively ends. I believe he means iterating in future games
I figured it meant this game is a buggy mess that we’re still trying to fix but your take would be cool for sure
oh, i’m sorry, i took live game to mean like apex legends etc.
the big technical issue is pop-in – many obstacles don’t have LoD models and they’re using a custom engine with middleware for the LoD it does have. digital foundry have a video about the performance that’s generally positive except the switch port which is as rough as you’d imagine
Nice, yeah I’m not sure if that’s something they’d be able to fix in patches (maybe?) so I’ll probably just go ahead and jump on it. Thanks!
the first five minutes or so of that DF are also probably the best review of the game i’ve seen/read so far
i’m ecstatic the bowling for soup era of sonic is over. we are now in the UKF Drum & Bass youtube channel era
there are still violently corny rock songs (albeit better than jaret reddick) on the soundtrack but half of it is good electronic music
Reached the third island and I have to say the cyberspace levels are the worst part of the game (bar the soundtrack). This is the complete opposite of what I was expecting from this.
Also loving characters being hung up on the events of the megadrive games.
At this point it’s better than Elden Ring for winker.
interesting that the monster hunter bbq minigame is to give you free fishing tokens which in turn basically gives you infinite resources lol
but i wish you could cook the fish
I don’t love the third Island. I keep having trouble finding paths between all the land masses. Also I killed a squid there and the gear it dropped fell right off the map ![]()
I did that too and the gear respawned in the center of the area nearby?
I’ll try and do this goods raffle soon.
valid gaming strategy
i’d been assuming those blue glowing sign things with a picture of a treasure chest were something that’d get unlocked later or something. in my seventh hour of playtime, i idly ran a ring around one and it turned into a vault key. how frustrating!
(i do generally approve of how most of the interaction elements are just left in the world to experiment with, though)
i’m progressing very slowly, i’m still only on the second island! it’s a very nice island, with its dark little valleys and secluded oases
4th island was great! a really good sign of the devs knowing what stuff works best.
Like seemingly everyone else, I’ll agree that the 2-D cyberspace stages are the game’s weakest elements. The 3-D ones aren’t fantastic either, but I find traversing them enjoyable in a way that is distinct from what I like about the main worlds. The 2-D ones, on the other hand, feel too constricting, with no opportunity to either see interesting sights or get into a groove. That said, I really like stage 3-6, and hope it’s a sign of things to come.
