nice western-y vibes here
blah apparently I had a 30m recording of practice for a live show just disappear after a problem with my phone
a country-inflected song i wrote ~14 years ago came back around this past weekend when some of my friends were recording country stuff. i really like this old song and i love singing it
oh there’s also this one that i sing lead on:
new name for small noises
this is amazing
an extra edit since i went to the effort of making a new name for this
would anyone wanna jam w me over the INTERNET
ilkae liked it so there you go. endorsement.
it’s me playing a guitar patch improvisation on my keyboard. i uploaded two versions, one for headphones (uncompressed) and mobile/other (compressed)
i am so grateful to be able to play even just this little bit. my hands/arms have been so bad that this has not always seemed possible. hopefully this is a sign of good things to come…
recorded my live set at dna lounge a few weeks ago
i’ll be releasing this as a live album on bandcamp on friday but here’s the video
really pretty!
the most straightforward song I’ve written by a long shot. see if you can tell where I broke a string and went horribly out of tune!!

pretty happy with the lyrics too
Not a prince but a queen, such a laughable scene,
You caught me blushing I can’t take it back now
Stranger-king, humbling, dressed to please, said
“You can always pluck out any eye that offends thee”
Cause why should I have to be the visible one?
Take what you love and cover it up
Come on, baby, don’t give them your life
First the cream and the red, where you shave and you bled
and your cover only catches their attention
Then the red and the pink, on the lip and the cheek
And the beauty of a bluff that can’t get called
But why should I have to be the visible one?
Take what you love and cover it up
Come on, baby, don’t give them your life
4, 3, 2, 1
Cause the chain is the pull and the weight is the word
I’m all dolled up, I can never get hurt
What’s a place, what’s a scene, what’s a girl, what’s the harm?
It’s a joke, and better keep your nose out
Truth is pattern, truth is habit, truth is cutting when I have it
If I had it, would it kill me to act nice once?
Come on, baby, don’t give them your life
Just a hint, just a bite, just a collar at night
And a feeling that you‘ll come out of the water dry
But tell the mirror in your head recognition is dead
Counterfeits double truth in a dim light
And why should I have to be the visible one?
It works better when it’s not the work they want
Cause the chain is the pull and the weight is the word
I’m all dolled up, I can never get hurt
What’s a place, what’s a scene, what’s a girl, what’s the harm?
It’s a joke, and better keep your nose out
Truth is pattern, truth is habit, truth is cutting when I have it
If I had it, would it kill me to act nice once?
Come on, baby, don’t give them your life
still having fun making these. also using it to practice a healthy relationship w/ my creative endeavors. i’m very good at burning myself out and this has been a nice outlet where i can practice not doing that.
gonna be honest, i think this is probably the best thing i’ve done in a really long time, i really love the way it was made (mostly improvised and recorded one time) because there’s no way for me to dwell on the mistakes i made as i listen to it again - the space i was in when recording it is so difficult for me to get back to that i can’t even really say that i made a “mistake”, there’s no context surrounding it that would give me the ability to judge it so, and it’s something i’ve literally never experienced in my 2+ decades of playing and making music
