working on cd cases for glasgow zine fest this weekend… trying to keep the goblet grotto ones more simple bc i’m doing 10 of them in total to go with a printed version of the manual and a map, i’m only doing 4 of 10 beautiful postcards and it has fewer feelies so trying to go all in on making the cases as fussily collage object as i can, in keeping with the source. hoping to throw a little lino print graphic on there as well.

do it! i’ve tried a few times in the past and it was always a lot of fun. these days i only ever sell like 3 or 4 copies of a game bc nobody has cd drives anymore but including download keys would probably even things out. every time i do it i seem to meet a few people who seem surprised that “video games” are even still a thing or being made anymore, like i’m selling custom pogs or furbies or something. also you can get some nice trades.
definitely go with a friend if you can… i’m essentially just piggybacking my stuff onto the plaintext distro table which has a much larger assortment of actual zines

UPDATE: i sold out of copies!! cd rom is BACK, when produced in sufficiently limited quantities and priced to move. i even sold the cassette tapes and some of the romcom reviews in addition to the other zines. my next move will be to go mad with hubris and print like a hundred overpriced games in those luxury oversized boxes 90s EA games used to come in, and then sell 2.

roughed this thing out fucking finally, going to do some different drafts much bigger and less busy. this sie of art is the horrible inbetween where my usual working size of like 5x7, 4x6, super busy an tiny does’t look good but bigger bolder strokes are impossible

left: a pixelized version of a zzt board i made in 2021
right: redesigned primarily to make the frog-stylings more than just “hehe froggy chair eyes” and to make the visor shape to something original (also, apparently digital art is a lot easier to make when you’re using a tablet instead of a mouse)
