The altstore.io solution works on Windows! Not that it’s perfect
Damn I wanted one of those Motorola POGO controllers so bad when they launched them. Just, uh, not for the price they asked out of the gate.
I might still be looking to sell mine. I dunno. It plays PSX stuff perfectly, which is great, but the whole thing feels kinda clunky?
I mean, hey, once you’re in a game, it’s fine. But poking around the Android interface without a touch screen, then going through Retroarch and reading the tiny tiny font to find what you want…eh, I dunno.
Gotta mull it over. And also I guess make sure I don’t update it to Android 8.1? Folks saying theirs bricked doing that, which, hmm! Not great!
I played Big The Cat!!!
using this thing is just slightly too cumbersome and the buttons are tiring in a way I do not understand. Just get tired of using it. Would have already mailed it to a Butt if shipping wasn’t shut down.
The real point is if the Anberic systems are this good but nice to use holy lordy.
Rudie what if I told ya…yeah they’re pretty good.
I’m still curious to see how the RG351P develops over time. It should be every bit as capable as the OGA or RK2020, but since it’s not ripping off the OGA’s software like the rest of them are, Dreamcast performance isn’t there yet.
That said, after the holidays I’d be happy to try to mail my Retroid to somebody if they’d like it. The stuff Taki played up is obviously not all there, but it does run Playstation stuff better than the pre-RG351P Anbernic consoles.
if you’re just giving it away, i wouldn’t say no
i am here, i am buying a 350m people
so i got it today. the one i got came installed with a port of freedoom and cave story. is there a port of regular doom for this? what other indie games could it play?
could it play morrowind??
lol my power button broke. Guess I will spend tonight opening it up to see if I can fix it.
Might could:
I fixed this by hitting the volume rocker a couple of times. Technology is weird.
I wasted my evening flashing the firmware for this and all I got from it was losing all my saves and remember the controls are just slightly bothersome.
The new OS is much snappier so if I send it to a friend they’ll have a great time with it.
I played 1/2 of the way through R-Type Delta on mine and felt that my investment had been returned. Also, it plays DK 94 well.
I lost two nights setting stuff up again on this thing.
Did manage to save my Sonic Adventure save and some of my OoT saves but not the one I wanted. Just want to do Master Quest with the modern day romhack enhancements and not the Deku Tree again (spoilers is there anything clever in the master quest or is it just a waste of time?)
Maybe tomorrow I can focus and actually play something on it.
Or just throw it in a box and mail it to America.
Play Sonic Adventure
there’s a bunch of cow jokes,
but most of the value comes from a thin ability to trick your brain into paying more attention to well-worn dungeons through small order changes
What’s the ultimate appraisal on these things? I’m getting an overall negative sense.
unless you really want arcade/ps1/dreamcast/n64, it might be best to get a hacked n3ds and a big micro sd card?
I got the Anbernic 351v coming in the mail which by all accounts is better but runs Dreamcast worse.
All the futzing is fine really. It is like 80% of what I bother with in emulation so I must like it as opposed to playing any game. The main problem is the butons are tiring. They seem fine, but after 30 minutes you feel kind of sore as I said multiple times in the thread.
I mean if you hang out on the retroid reddit you can grab one for like 80 bucks which is a pretty good price.
And if you aren’t like me and can just deal with the stock settings and retroarch it is a fine handheld. Abandon the built in Retroid OS with it’s Magic Box menu and unremappable buttons.
