yep. apparently the only fix is turning off raytracing, and if that doesn’t work (or it wasn’t on) lower your vram usage till it’s not yellow
fwiw raytracing doesn’t really do much for the visuals since it’s only reflections
turning off rtx seems to have fixed it, ta
guess i got lucky with the demo
oh no i am playing this.
Just got the farm. Wanting to enjoy this on it’s own terms but can’t help thinking about the number of times I have played the original.
I like Leon’s new jacket. The original version reminded me too much of a jacket I had stolen from a party in my house (the only thing I have ever truly loved). Hope the big twist is that he gets it back at some point.
Agreed. I never felt under any real pressure despite still getting to grips with the controls. The nearest I got was being grabbed from behind and then throwing the guy into the oncoming chainsaw brer. Did like the floor collapsing in the tower though.
Apparently the Xbox version of this game has an issue where the analog sticks have ginormous dead zones. I did notice the aiming was wonky and once I heard this it explained it for me. If you’re a dumbass like me with one of those Elite controllers, you can go into the controller settings and adjust the sensitivity curve on the analog sticks to the “instant” setting and it makes it feel a LOT better.
for what it’s worth, the demo only has the standard difficulty. the full game has hardcore difficulty unlocked from the start, and this sequence felt much more in line with the original on that setting.
honestly I’m having a very good time with it so far. it’s a very strange experience, because it swerves between doing things completely differently and being overly faithful so quickly that it’s giving me whiplash. that being said I really like the new combat mechanics. even adding stealth just kind of feels natural and correct alongside the other changes.
but honestly whoever decided to replace shooting spinels down from various shiny glow points in the environment with side quests should be fired. like, I’m fine with the sidequests, just don’t take away shooting the little glowy points! that felt so good!
also fire whoever got rid of headshots giving you extra points in the firing range
the woke mind virus strikes again
The thing people wanted most…
I’ve just been informed that there’s a Ballistic Impact Volume in the options
ok but honestly, ya know what? ashley was definitely more of a bitch in the original game and I miss that. she’s all soft and demure in this game. downgrade imo.
anyway I’m in the castle now. I continue to just feel kind of whatever about this game. I’m having a great time! I think it’s like, overall better than the original game, has more interesting setpieces and combat mechanics, feels less repetitive overall. but it really doesn’t feel necessary. it also bugged me that they cut mendez’s transformation sequence… the way it happens in the remake almost feels like a continuity error, like they messed something up when editing the cutscene?? it’s that bad. like leon shoots the barrel and says “hasta luego” and then immediately he’s in parasite bug form. super strange decision to have it go that way.
also they cut the fuckin’ scene where the ganados are driving a truck at you before the castle! for all the ways that this game is gleefully doubling down on the ridiculousness of the original I can’t imagine why they felt that wasn’t worth keeping. such a cool scene.
Am also enjoying myself and it definitely meets my expectation of “what if re4 but even more” but I wanted them to do something with one of the 2002 weirdly experimental capcom nintendo exclusives era “hookman”/eternal darkness hallucination concepts that they threw out, though I guess enough of that survived in stuff like the re8 dollhouse segment
“What if woman not object” was a sufficiently challenging lesson for games, “What if woman human” will take decades.
in the original game she was clearly meant to be from texas. she feels like she’s maybe from new england here. that also feels like more a generic idea of a US president’s daughter than the specificity of the original RE4 dropping during the bush presidency
much to think about…
shades of david mamet…
