RESIDENT EVIL....

I was hoping for a repeat of the puppets from RE8 but this will do just fine.

They should remake RE5 and Code Veronica and sell them as a single unit so that we can have one thread for arguing against both racism and transphobia in Resident Evil.

i have some thoughts on re5 and my frustration with its narrative, but i’ll have to type it up when my hands aren’t messed up.

in the meantime, i’ve had these living in my head for like ten years.

Piers and Chris are the only two characters that have ever brought me close to participating with shipping culture

the demo kept crashing on my machine. I didn’t hate what I played but it definitely isn’t as fun or tight as RE4. on the other hand, I’m kind of glad that they are trying to focus it back on being more horror-oriented. I like the idea of it not really playing like the original at all, though it’s hard to say if it’s actually going to be a better game in the end.

guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

I hope they remake 6, imagine a 3 campaign re game with co-op and asymmetrical invasion multiplayer on top of that, but it’s not the worst resident evil

But what about the part where 2 of those campaigns were a bad call of duty game and a confused mess with bad stealth mechanics. Leon and Sherry’s are the most salvagable but im not really sure what they could do with chris and piers’ part of the game. I guess maybe they could turn that campaign into a straight up FPS since 7 and village have shit like that. But here’s me fantasizing about a capcom who wants to make good remakes. RE6 might actually work better now that theyve successfully been doing other stuff in the mainline games

Still proud of this work

how much do people expect me to opine that re6 plays significantly better than re4 ('23) and how many of you agree with me

it would hardly surprise me at this point if that was true these remakes have been mid at best and at least Helena can tornado DDT zombies

This series has been going downhill since sweet home

ok I finally finished the demo without it crashing. I definitely don’t hate it, it’s definitely very different from the original game while still feeling oddly familiar. the village setpiece felt good, though… I don’t feel like the more modern controls clash with the overall pace, tension, and challenge of the original experience. if anything, it felt like the sequence ended more abruptly than what I’m used to – like, I only had to deal with the chainsaw man for like 1 minute, tops.

I’m less keen on the overall aesthetic. more than any of the other recent remakes, parts of this felt a lot like those gaudy “ocarina of time rebuilt in unity” fan demos where everything just kind of looks overly processed and plasticky. the music that played during the village setpiece contributed to this as well… just kind of made the whole thing feel slightly off-brand in a way that I didn’t like.
