Yeah, I def have weird feelings to the weird if sometimes offputting lethality to the weirdest of attacks. There is def a bias away from combos and strong set ups. I’m still crying over megaman losing leaf shield as a stun grab set up tool and is now mainly just a projectile. On one hand I’m into it to keep play on both party active but on the other it just feels weird at weird times.
Yeah not even trying to do that without multiplayer. I got the ones I cared about and the others will come along as they do in couch games.
in my defense zero says that inkling is strong ok
Play who you like imo
pick a top tier you like
Play Ness and just PK Thunder all over the floor, it’s been working for me for almost 20 years
oh my god does the game seriously not save everyone’s fighters after every match
what the actual hell
I don’t want to live in a timeline where Olimar is top tier
not still picking the joke of a character you chose because they were a dumb joke in Melee and then they slowly became better and better with each new game
I remember when Oil Spill was garbage and I’ll be damned if I’m going back to that time
no, wait, he still had the parachute as his nair in Melee
I take my complaint back
I like guys with swords, apparently
Then do I have the game for you
gee Marth, why does your dad let you have 4 clones
yeah I think I just want more hitstun in this game generally
it’s weird because the game is finally getting close to the speed I like, with the dash dancing back and a landing lag reduction across the board from everyone, so it seems like it would encourage combos and setups and stuff like that, but then you get hit with a nair or something when you try to follow up. the speed of the game is suggesting something that doesn’t really exist and it’s tough for me to figure out
like the curve of “not enough hitstun to successfully combo” to “you’re flying away too far to be comboed” doesn’t seem to have much room for that sweet spot in the middle imo
also there’s apparently a huge buffer for inputs? like almost a second and a half or something - leffen was testing it with pokemon trainer’s switch and he would buffer the second pokemon switch and just hold down the button and direction while the switch was happening, and it would automatically switch AGAIN when the first one was done
oh thank god, I thought I was going crazy
I’m being very negative in this thread so I will say
a lot of this game reminds me of playing melee for the first time and just how much melee was A Great Sequel to the first smash
like, discovering that you can pick up link’s arrows and then shoot two of them when you use the bow the next time is dumb and useless and yet still great to see because it’s something that a designer wanted to do so they could celebrate BotW
there’s a lot of the game that reminds me of that! especially spirits mode
upon further reflection (like what the bucket has now), my opinion of Inkling has gone from “they seem neat” to “fun as shit”
Incineroar doesn’t seem that great, their recovery is so hard to use properly that the AI dies most of the time when it tries to use it, but damn does it ever feel like a wrestler when you play them.
Just having a wrestletiger in this game is pretty neat.
My main is still Richter, though.
obviously he’s balanced around the Punch-Out stage
