it was so cool

Having recently replayed Mother 3, I’m getting a huge kick out of the way they did Lucas in this game. He has a shirt with Boney on it, and one with the baby Drago! One of his victory poses is him pulling up one of the seals! Dope dope dope

Question about Ness - in one of his costumes he’s wearing a shirt with a chill blue gooey dude on it. Is that supposed to be Master Belch? Doesn’t really look like him.

Whoa damn how did I never mess with Smash Run? I probably played the 3DS version more than the Wii U version, too.

i’m really liking this game. the only things i don’t like are:

  • even more items/assist trophies that mess with your controls and obscure your vision

  • the adventure mode. specifically, the really asinine fight conditions that make things harder than they need to be, which is worse when combined with my first complaint. and how you pretty much have to max out your spirits so you have some semblance of a fighting chance.

  • the ai going from “normal” to “go fuck yourself” when it comes time to unlock a new character.

  • where is the level editor

otherwise it’s great. doesn’t feel nearly as slippery as brawl or 4 (didn’t really spend much time with melee). it has a wide variety of characters that i actually care about, so i have more options when i start to feel bored with one character. plus ness is actually good this time around.

i’ll have to eventually subscribe to nintendo’s internet scam and try out the online

the opponent AI varying from “actually, legally braindead” to “Hey let me turn on my level 9 toggle” for the unlock fights is initially shocking but then hilarious, even more so when you find out that level 9 CPUs actually fight the same way and love to dodge and perfect shield everything and are less meaningful opposition and more esoteric combat puzzles

World of Light lost me when I cleared The Dark World and another map unlocked and I realized it was less game and more waste of time

Has anyone said Crossbreed Priscilla yet?

I mean, it’s gonna be sunboy but

good news everyone

also Greninja got “adjusted”, truly making this the sequel to 4

K. Rool dominating online play?

BETTER NERF GRENINJA

I love how it lists who and what got adjusted and literally no details on what about it changed. That’s so on brand for Nintendo.

pedantic, serious response: actually the patch pages for ARMS and Splatoon 2 are hilariously detailed

real response: hey man, they don’t have to give us any patch notes at all

the more i try to play it, the more i can appreciate WOL for what it is, an incredibly content heavy single-player mode for people to chip away at after they’ve unlocked all the characters. (unless this is your primary method of doing so, which seems like the longest and worst way to do that imo, but hey whatever.)

there are some really neat little moments and cute references and i enjoy the absurd deep cuts of the stickers, but it just might not be for me. they clearly put a lot of work into it but i wish they did more with the classic mode. Classic mode does have similar creative interpretations of character specific things that i really like but i wish there was just more to do in it, i guess.

Finally had a big, IRL, on the couch, 5+ person, many-match experience and this is the Smash I love and holds up very well and it’s so nice that you can set all the rules ahead of time to make things run so smoothly. Lots of wonderful quality of life improvements in this.

Too bad most aspects of online still suck butt.

How did everyone feel about SSB4-WiiU’s various content? I only ever played it at friends’ house and there seemed to be a whole lot of it but was always surprised to see that most of them had only done the bare minimum of it to unlock all the characters and stages.

Let’s see, there was

  • Classic Mode (with forced 8-player battles apparently holding it back?)
  • A proper All-Star mode
  • Angry Birds Targets
  • Home-Run
  • The various multi Mii battles
  • Both separate single and co-op Event Matches (I liked these a lot in Melee at least)
  • Master and Crazy Orders (this at least seemed like a pretty fun mode)
  • Stage Builder
  • Trophy Rush bonus game
  • All those in-game cheevos

Also the whole character customization which biggest problem seemed to be that it took forever to grind out the parts you might actually want.

I feel like 2B is fairly likely as a DLC character except they’ll probably have to cover her butt up somehow

I just kinda wish there was more to do with the spirits/stickers. Something to more motivate the gacha grind that they are like sending them off to fight like the FFTactics jobs where you send off non story character to complete quests. Just something to feel like they are more than just numbers to slap on. That’s basically what the exploration side activity is but I want something with more meat to it. Something like they’re going to a forest and need people with axes and saws so you send some. I like to think I get when it comes to making stuff like this but I dunno, what we have just feels so numbing outside of the core smashing part when you get some people on controllers.

I mean, I was pretty surprised and dismayed at this game’s horniness level vis-a-vis Zero Suit Samus.

They did tone down how curvy she was from 4 to Ult. I’m kinda into that they gave Shulk his swim trunks alternate.

right but I feel like buttcheeks are just too much, there are no be-thonged smash bros characters. bayonetta doesn’t lose her outfit to do hair attacks.

2B will be getting bloomers and tbh I’m here for it

Yeah she does. Not as much as in the actual games, but definitely seen it happen. Maybe only with the Bayo 1 costume?
