Quick Questions XVI: Answer Time Lore

I’m so sad I blew out my Gateway subwoofer.

Why did a Windows 95 family PC come with a subwoofer.

Myst and MechWarrior 2 were my family’s first PC games and that subwoofer rumbled the house so much on a snowy morning my parents were trying to see if a plow had gone by

damn it I can’t remember the name of this obscure PS1 game that is like…I think kinda sci-fi and totally weird and edgy and story driven and ALSO TAKES PLACE DURING CHRISTMAS (the main reason I am wanting this for a game night) I can’t pull any other clues outta my brain that aren’t pure visual nonsense…

(wanna say I found it through that sean seanson channel but haven’t seen it skimming through yet)

I know the one you are thinking of it’s a completely weird RE-Like and I also cannot remember the name but it also has a completely different Akira-style sequel maybe if I search my name and Akira it will show up.

OVERBLOOD which the Japanese name for Loaded (Blood Drive) was throwing me off.

It’s like complete bullshit but bullshit in a really funny video game way.

YES! thank you!

(I think Overblood 2 specifically)

Yep thanks

Anyone know of a good, small projector? After seeing @Infernarl’s projector setup for his emulator, it struck me as a great idea to essentially connect a laptop or a modern emulator handheld to a small projector and let people watch a game being played on the wall.

Curious how small/luggage-packable these can get before the quality is too low to be useful.

Ya if we could all get one small projector…

Time for another “where should I play it?” question: I have Chrono Cross in my pipeline of games I should play… I can play it either on the PS Vita (original PSX rom, via PSP emulation) or the Switch. Which version is better? I suspect the original… but it’s baseless guessing (maybe original graphics are better than upscaled ones?) :stuck_out_tongue:

The radical dreamers version (so the switch version) is a little worse because it doesn’t run as good as if you emulated it yourself. The upscaled backgrounds also look really, really bad and there’s some weird changes to the dialogue. They fixed pip’s stat growth which was busted to shit on ps1 I guess is a positive towards it.

may have been patched since but i’d go original

I will never forgive them for changing how mojo talks for no reason, and then on top of that fucking it up so it’s now been changed inconsistently.

The new ports look worse but also let you play the battles at 4 Times Speed. And let me tell you as someone that played the game This Year, the battles are slow. The fast forward button has to be 4 times speed because it is the only thing that seems reasonable.

With fast forward (that doesn’t interrupt the music!) I bet the game could 10 hours shorter.

Is it possible to have classic look of the game & fast forward combined together, on the Switch version?
