Switch versions are a pretty good time (I say, having only finished the first game).

The pixel font is fairly inoffensive!

Thanks! they’re 20% off right now on switch if that makes a difference for anyone else

i’ve been cleaning and tidying things up around my place nad dug my PS Vita out of a drawer.

hacking it seems easy enough these days, but what can it do now? any recent developments in terms of what it can emulate or play? i feel like i’ve seen some folks around here talk about enjoying their hacked Vitas, so i am looking for thoughts

here’s a site with most (all?) homebrew
https://vitadb.rinnegatamante.it/#/

most interesting stuff being the ports imo. i’ve been enjoying minecraft enhanced recently, too

and here’s a bunch of spreadsheets with things like mods and translation patches

Sometimes I wonder if the PSP and Vita would’ve done better if they had the full dual analog four shoulder button set up. Like just fully commit to being portable PlayStations.

I think it only took years of (10 years after the vita) chinese handhelds to even begin to figure out what kind of 4 analog stick worked in practice, and even then I don’t think there is a consensus.

i use my hacked vita for playing psx, psp and vita games and nothing that it wouldn’t do out the box. i just do it for free now and have a wider selection of psx games.

hacked vita can be fully overclocked which makes a shocking amount of games go from stuttery to smooth

does the good overclocking plugin still have an embarrassing name or is there one for adults now

yeah my follow up was whether or not a hacked Vita can run PSP games. would rather play the MGAc!d games on my Vita than my PSP

a hacked Vita just doesn’t run PSP games, Adrenaline gives you full access to Sony’s PSP emulator and you are able to run An Actual PSP on your Vita

is there a place to get save files for playstation games you can load into an emulator? I want to grab all the cars from Driver and Driver 2 but don’t want to play through the whole games to unlock the cities they’re in lmao

edit: i guess I could see if duckstation has unlock cheats for them and then carry the save files over to the other emulator I used for model ripping, worked for Ridge Racer 4…

i’m sure there’s a way to download saves from gamefaqs and add them to your emulator’s memory card file

I haven’t really used it, but as a test I downloaded the top DexDrive save for Driver from GameFAQs

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197163-driver/saves

then navigated to the directory in which I saved it using the ā€œImport Cardā€ button on the Memory Card Editor from duckstation’s Memory Cards settings menu. It seemed to load it fine, at least in the menu–didn’t try it in the actual game.

I see that Doki Doki Literature Club is the Epic Game Store freebie of the week and I know it is popular enough that I’ve heard of it before… but is it actually any good? All the anime makes me believe I won’t find an accurate answer on the general internet, but I trust y’all to not lead me astray.

DDLC seems to me (with no disrespect intended or shade thrown) like it is at its most surprising when you have less experience with VNs or Japanese games prior to the PS1 or haven’t played any Japanese indie game from the 2000s. So I doubt it is likely to surprise most posters on SB.

But maybe there’s an emotional thing about it I don’t appreciate it’s always just been this creepypasta like experience to me over anything else, but there are characters I guess. I’ve always felt all of DDLC is trying to do that one moment from Irisu Syndrome, and nothing else really.

Its extremely dull and you can probably guess what its deal is just from knowing that there’s a twist, so you are unlikely to get anything from actually playing it

I always thought it was directly aping the old hentai game ā€œKimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koiā€, as it has the same gimmick (so don’t Google it if the want to play DDLC). DDLC 's popularity made a lot more sense when I found out a route is like 30 minutes long, making it accessible as Content in the streaming era.

So I guess if that’s actually the case, you can try it out if you’re curious and only risk losing 30 minutes of your time.
