Quick Questions XVI: Answer Time Lore (Part 4)

the specification that you have to have played it in the past week/month feels like a bit much. i posted anyway and broke the rules because i thought no one else would mention Spindizzy and thought someone should play it and it seems like that was okay.

I don’t think I can do away with that rule. For this game, it’s important that people actually experience the work. At the same time, I welcome posts like yours because it gives people ideas on where to start.

I want the game to have elements of a book-club and a list-thread. A lot of posters around here love digging through the crates and I want to encourage them to share more about what they find. The ideal is to inspire someone to play it themselves and talk about it. I want people to feel comfortable going back and forth about new discoveries. I also think new discoveries can happen with games you’ve already played, but only if you go back and revisit them.

I’m probably the only person who is interested in the arbitrary stakes of a ā€œTop 12ā€ list, so I’ll phrase the rule like this: You are encouraged to recommend any games you want; however, only ones you have recently played will be added to the list.

New title idea: Crate-Digging in 1986

What would be a decent affordable camera to get to record little cooking videos with?

I’m not sure what your threshold is for what’s considered affordable but there’s a lot of really nice fixed-lens cameras (Sony ZV series, Canon PowerShot) which these days are kind of considered ā€œVloggingā€ cameras which may fit the bill for you. Could probably cut back on cost by getting models of yesteryear

The most economical is to get an iPhone or flagship Android device from a year or two ago. It’s kind of wild but here we are.

Making the setup easy is a good investment. A joby or gooseneck or whatever stand and some good lighting maybe a mic if you want to be clear - though that’s Ok in post depending on the type of food vid u wanna make

Anybody used the gamified coding school site https://www.boot.dev/ or something similar? I can definitely do $36 a month (with a coupon from a YTuber) and have been good about sticking with things. I would like to make money with it but also interested for the brain plasticity.

omg i forgot to respond to this

honestly i’ve only been playing qm so i don’t think it’s the best way to measure things but they honestly haven’t changed that much? i think there’s a bit more emphasis on pushing down buildings where fort trades for objs are on the whole a better proposition than they used to be, but from what i was hearing i thought it was going to be afk pushers everywhere and that’s only a little bit true…i think what has changed more than anything is that pushing a fort with 2-3 after winning a team fight is much more The Correct Play than it was in the past

it’s a little bit more snowball-y where it feels harder to come back when you’re down a significant number of buildings? but overall it doesn’t seem hugely different honestly, people are still bad enough at this game that diving still works the way it mostly did, the decreased times between minion spawn and camp spawn don’t mean much because no one does camps anyway until you get to diamond and higher, and the obj changes don’t feel like they’re overwhelming

so it’s fine? i guess lol

@ sb mandarin speakers: regarding the use of 啊 as a particle of emphasis (e.g. åƹ啊ļ¼Œę˜Æå•Šļ¼Œč°¢č°¢å•Š):
1: is this even correct? i couldn’t tell u where i picked this up from.
2: how appropriate is it in various contexts? I’ve been unconsciously using it a lot and idk if it like makes me sound rude or like a bum or sth idk.

cheers as.

I don’t have a clear answer to this, but it sounds casual/everyday to me. The only thing like this I remember learning (from two separate teachers) is that using the question particle ne 呢 makes you sound gay.

that’s so awesome i love using that particle i have no idea how i would construct a whole bunch of sentences without it lmao.

also, i’m back in taiwan for a few weeks (hence the previous question), so extra question: are there any cool secret videogame zones i should visit while i’m here again? i’m in taipei atm, but i’ll be heading back down to kaosiung () etc later on.

I’m definitely simplifying what they were saying. It’s more like overusing it to sound cheerful has that effect, not things like saying ā€œä½ å‘¢ā€

I didn’t really find much cool video game stuff when I was there, but there is an arcade at the top of the Wannian building in Ximending. All I remember is they had a Warriors of Fate cabinet.

I think this place was also used as a dungeon in Dusk Divers 2

I vaguely remember it being something like just downloading a seed from another player, but it’s only available for a certain number of days

Seems to not be but there’s several in modern Okinawa at least.

that’s a surprise and a little bit of a shame

Maxi from Soul Calibur is from Ryukyu and I assume one of his stages in the series might be set there
