Quick Questions XV: Episode Prompto

As a kid, I think I inherited “feather decker” as the word for heavy, down-filled comforters, but now I don’t see any evidence that anyone has called them that.

In my googling for the term, I found this snippet of information.

It cleared up nothing

Are the original HTC vibes: Reliable, good, a clear improvement over the RIFT cv1, and a good place to start for upgrading my VR setup piece by piece over the next year or so?

Very comparable to a Rift CV1, somewhat better tracking in exchange for lighthouse setup, clear downgrade in the controllers. The first-gen Windows Mixed-Reality setups are probably better, realistically I wouldn’t go for anything that didn’t have or wouldn’t work with Rift 2-style thumbstick controllers.

Do brits pronounce duvet like a french word or do they say “dove-it” the way they say valet wrong.

I was actually with a woman in France once and she made reference to the duvet then she paused for a moment, considered me, and ventured “doo vet?” without sarcasm or judgment, just out of concern that I might not have understood her the first time, and I did not feel good about that

I found a few posts on it from a while back, but did anyone play Deaths Door? It looks cute

Tunic is better; both spend all their energy on intellectualizing nostalgia for Link to the Past instead of extending it in a way I found even more dispiriting than A Short Hike

yeah i suspected as much. i think i will just wait for tunic. i clap my hands like a big dumb circus ape for ALTTP so i’m interested in both, but still interested in playing something that is actually good.

Having played both I think both have their strong points. Tunic does the mystery thing (possibly too much) and the difficulty thing (possibly too much). Death’s Door is a bit more accessible, and tries the humor thing, which actually does work in a few inspired cases. Also one of the visual motifs present in the whole game pays off in a surprisingly cool way in one of the last boss fights. I was delighted by that.

I’m not going to die on a hill for either game but I think there’s meat on the bone with both.

Yeah, it’s important to note that they’re both very well-crafted videogames. They’re both successful enough at what they set out to do that we can question whether that’s worthwhile.

ugh, tunic was exactly the most dispiriting link to the past nostalgia fest that it looked like… An absolutely wretched experience, one of the few games I regret wasting my time on and I play some real garbage

Honestly you You? Would probably like both fine. I don’t think you are offended by Adult Nintendo Fans Make a Video Game.

Any fans of Valkyrie Profile 2 here? Really like Lenneth but idk if I should bother playing it before Elysium at the end of the month.
