Edit: ah, to swap states… I don’t think there is a universal button for this, but you can probably configure one yourself in the individual emulators just by launching them through steam via your Library > Collections > Emulations collection. Haven’t done this myself but I bet that’s how you would.
That didn’t work but I found out if you go into any game in retroarch then hold L3+R3 then select option and hotkeys USING YOUR FINGER because none of the controls worked for me you can get swap states and disable frame limit to the back buttons.
I’m tired of climbing behind my TV to switch the one component input around between the Wii, PS2 and XboxOG. This is the first result on Amazon for “component switch”, that should do the job right without significantly degrading picture quality or adding too much input lag, right? Unless there is some other device that I should be looking for that does a similar job.
The second alternative I suppose would be to get all these things outputting over HDMI. Anybody have any experience with that? I’ve seen HDMI cables for the Wii at least but not sure how that effects quality and such.
Component/composite switches are generally completely passive/unpowered, so it shouldn’t impact lag at all. Picture quality should not get noticeably worse unless your total cable distance is too long.
I would not recommend buying cheap or generic HDMI conversion cables unless you specifically need it to do video capture and input lag is not a concern. If you want HDMI, at the very least get a RetroTink-2X Mini.
probs not the first time ive asked nor will it likely be the last time but tactics ogre… which version am i supposed to play lol. normally id be like “of course i want to play the original lol” but Matsuno Himself also worked on the psp version so i assume it has its merits?
SNES and PSP TO are both great and bad in different ways. SNES TO makes levels matter way too much in damage formulas, while PSP makes every class start at level 1 which blows, etc
Generally SNES TO is better as just a quick Tactics fix, PSP TO is better if you want to turn your life into Tactics Ogre for a while
Reborn looks like the best of both worlds but it looks ugly on non-portables and will cost 50$
I haven’t tried it yet but heard that the TO One vision patch is the best version even for newcomers as it helps contextualize and understand PSP TO’s weird but cool mechanics
Whats a good windows screenshot tool that will allow me to:
capture a portion of the screen
capture an entire window
save it automatically as a file (not just to the clipboard)
using only keyboard shortcuts?
I’ve been using screenshooter, which does all of that, BUT it takes like 30-60 seconds to capture a 4K screen. Might just be my computer but wanted to check for alternatives
windows will actually do all of this (alt+print screen, windows+shift+s) but i think for some bizarre reason the automatic saving to a file depends on you using onedrive, where it dumps them by default
I think bov made a post about it somewhere, and he played more than I did. His thoughts I think were generally pretty negative.
For what it’s worth, I don’t remember what I said way back when, but I remember finding it initially charming in just seeing how it had the scope of a PS2 era game, which is just not something you see anymore due to the budget. But I never played more than a few hours of it because it doesn’t evolve it’s design sensibilities quick enough. All of the areas felt around the same level of complexity as the opening levels. Rather than leaning into platforming, it introduces Uncharted style auto-platforming at one point. And the combat/enemy design didn’t change much, if at all. I think those are things done better by the games its inspired by (or the older games at least had a sense they needed to add tons of bespoke mini-games to change up the pace).
I use Greenshot and it works pretty okay for me, although for some baffling reason it sometimes refuses to capture screenshots for random games. I could probably fix it if I spent a lot of time on it, but as-is when I have it loaded up I got it to where I just press F2 and it automatically saves the screenshot to a given folder with no fuss or pop-ups.
what is the most chill racing game. I don’t wanna learn how to steer, or handle, or drift. I just wanna get stoned and chill out going fast through scenic locations.
