It’s just great how they removed the ability to search review text and only have a searchbox for their Q&A thing now
does anyone have writing they like about archival work in the videogame space? i’m thinking more academic and material based stuff, but anything would be useful.
iPhone question! What is supposedly the sweet spot among the iPhone 12 models?
And among the 13?
Mini or Pro
right bang in the middle of the cycle so i’d prob wait if possible? (that’s what i’m doing)
by all accounts there won’t be a new mini because they’re less than 5% of the line’s sales so if that form factor’s important there’s no better time
I want a small form factor that I can use to take pictures, tether to my devices, and is durable. I feel like this doesn’t exist without a lot of expensive other features. True/false?
to be honest the sub-iPhone market has been such a mess for so long now, and is pretty much nonexistent at the smaller end of things, that I would just decide whether you feel like buying a 13 Mini (which you can easily get 5 years out of, my X is gonna turn 5 soon and I’m not thinking about getting rid of it until late next year at the earliest) or just taking whatever your carrier will give you and not thinking about it
longevity is one of several reasons I haven’t even considered a non-iPhone in years now, the competition is not close, and they are still priced more competitively than non-iPhone users act
im still running an 8 at this point with no issues other than a battery that’s deteriorated from that much use. considering jumping up the SE as i still like the form factor, but for £80 i could just do a new battery
same, but i could really do with >64gb now
it’s 50 quid for an 8!
5 years being a phone with fucking ‘longevity’ now is ridiculous. like I literally want to blow up every cellphone tower hearing it. also that’s less life than every single phone I’ve ever owned so I don’t even think it’s true. thank goodness
yeah i’m clinging to my first gen SE mostly out of spite at this point
Are a 11 Pro or 12 Pro Max still a good option? What’s the gap vs 13 Pro / Pro Max?
I’m always kind of conservative with that estimate bc I don’t think some people want a slow unupdated phone, if I were talking to an audience of ppl on a budget rather than like, best practices, I would probably have said 7
my wife’s first generation SE was definitely like, needing a replacement in her eyes by the time the 12 mini was an option though and that was about 5 years, whereas this X is good for ~7 in my mind
OK, I did some research, and I see that the main difference between 12 pro and 13 pro, apart from redesign, seems to be the cpu (Bionic 14 vs 15)… At which point, I’d be leaning towards the 12 Pro. I can wait until the iPhone 14 comes out, but would a price cut for the 12 Pro be worth the wait, or would it be negligible (given it must already have had a price cut when 13 came out).
I have never followed the scene much, hence me asking.
Thanks!!
As a general rule, the price of older Apple products declines pretty slowly. And the used market is more responsive to supply/demand trends than Apple itself.
when i worked at o2 and still had a vague idea what was going on with phones i would tell pals just get last years on black friday and stack my mates rates discount on top, always worked out well, they’re getting updates for ~7 years now and critical sec updates for a couple (?) more + the cpus are outpacing web developers
anyone got a sinden lightgun??
yeah but i’ve never really used it properly i.e. meters away from a large format telly, so i have nothing to say about it either way so far
