If you got the PS2 that’s the way to do it. SH2-3HD for PS3 the 2 port is horrendous but 3 looks great. I think all the SH games really benefit from being dirty though. I played through 2 on pcsx2 with their cheap crt filter semi-recently and well got really mad at just how much the other ports destroyed the game.
Even when you revisit places from 2 in 3HD they run perfectly in 3 and god…so infuriating.
it’s not as bad as the sh2 port but certain areas missing literal surface grime and filth in sh3hd is really disappointing

so yeah basically my fiancée discovered this past year that she really loves Resident Evil (the Remakes, anyway) after watching me play through them, so she asked about Silent Hill.
we watched Jacob’s Ladder as a primer and she was into it so i feel good about moving ahead with project Silent Hill
that said the other day when we tried out Yakuza 3 she was immediately turned off by how dated it felt/looked. i feel like SH2 and 3 have probably held up well, but i’m wondering if she’ll have the tolerance for playing on a CRT with me.
i also need to get some PS2 controllers because turns out they do not store well wrapped up (unlike all my other retro console controllers, idk).
basically i want to play this in a way that will make the game look and feel its best, so yeah, i guess it’s either PC versions with a ton of mods or the PS2, which it sounds like is probably the best bet.
edit: hmmm i think my copy of SH2 is at my mom’s. at least…i hope it is? i have SH3, though. can’t really explain why but i always vibed with 3 more than 2, so i guess that’s why i kept it on me through these years
they’re perfectly emulateable if that wasn’t clear, it’s just that all the ports except the heavily modded PC version are no good

Does anyone have an HDMI splitter that strips HDCP they can recommend?
Running from a PS3 to a TV and $15 USB capture card (Camlink clone). My understanding is that you cannot disable HDCP in software on the PS3.
I see lots of models but no familiar names.

most of the capture cards* on aliexpress claim to strip hdcp, but i don’t know how true that is or if any of them are actually good

How good is Project Warlock? Has anybody played it? Is it comparable to, say, Dusk or Amid Evil in quality?
Me and @ellaguro wrote some posts about it… somewhere, I think GYPT. Fair to say both our takes were: it starts strong but overstays its welcome, the art and music never really top the first couple chapters, and it gets unnecessarily difficult later on. It has that classic trap of a leveling system where some upgrades are much better than others but there’s no way to tell that until you’ve already spent the points and can’t change any more. Kind of a let down.
yeah it’s an extremely 7/10 game for me. i really like the art style and some things about the approach a lot and it def feels more like it came from a person than some of these other slick but kinda devoid of personality retro FPS throwback shooters. but it def overstays its welcome. i’ve heard the developer keeps changing things that break things in other parts of the game as well. the last few boss battles were stupid damage tanks also that just felt pointless and underdeveloped.
i stuck around for the art and just liking the general Wolfenstein 3D-throwback but enhanced style approach a lot. i didn’t hate my time with it in the long run, but it also became a bit of a slog overall. it’s def not up there with DUSK or AMID EVIL in my book.

I got this one because it has DIP switches to optionally strip or pass HDCP among other things and supports a relatively recent HDMI spec, will work in other applications as a 1x2 splitter
I used it with this Camlink clone to pass PS3 HDMI signal to my computers, was able to skip OBS and just pick it as my audio and video device in Discord
Color is a little wonky but I wouldn’t notice if I wasn’t comparing it to the same signal on a TV.
