Quick Questions XV: Episode Prompto

I’m looking for an unreleased Darthlupi game called “Sword Fighter” or “Sword Fighter Zero”.

At one point there was a demo available. It had a really fun mechanic of 360 degree sword control. IIRC the character is hoping the purple drink is grape soda because when you cut the worms, they bleed the same shade of purple. A site called Games for Gamers has this screenshot but its download link leads to darthlupi’s old message board, which was not captured by archive.org. I don’t suppose anyone here happened to have it?

I am of the firm belief that some of you have hooked-up a PSP to a CRT or monitor, which is more of an accusation than a question…

I only ask because I am likely to be fucking around with such things in the near future having just discovered this functionality (or in thinking previously that this was something only the Vita was capable of)

It’s true, I have done that. ]_]

Thank u. Should I play it from the start in coop or should I practice a bit solo before introducing my partner?

i have briefly in the past, it’s not that great – it is super duper letterboxed and you still have to hold the psp itself and play on it with all the cords hanging out (how badly i wish you could sync a dualshock 3 etc. to it)

I’ve done it on an HDTV and it was so gross I never bothered again.

Thanks all. I’m glad this experiment will only cost me the price of a cable and the ensuing -and permanent- eye damage it will likely cause once put together

You can… exclusively on PSP Go

I played all of Ys 7 on a TV using a dualshock with a PSP Go. It was awesome and looked the great. The only problem was that the tv cable connects to the same port used for charging, so you always had a time limit for how long you could play before the battery died!

I think there was a docking station that allowed for simultaneous charging and video out

You have uniquely managed to complicate this by mentioning the PSP Go

anyone have any suggestions for a cheap mp3 player? like… ideally around $30, but could be more if its got the right features. what i’m looking for:

  • i noticed a lot of the ones i’ve looked at on amazon have a limited number of playlists you can make, like 3??? so like… something that that lets you make way more playlists then that.
  • bluetooth, im already getting one for convenience anyways so i might as well have maximum convenience by going wireless.
  • ofc being able to upgrade space on it. or just having a lot of space to begin with. big part of the reason why i dont my phone as my music player is that im constantly hitting the limit with it due to my apps and videos and such.
  • physical buttons, thought its not a deal breaker if it doesnt have any.
  • ditto with having a variety of file formats. im not an audio prude (literally one of those people who rips music off of youtube now) so i dont mind going through the extra work to convert some files, but it’d be nice not to have to.
  • also, unsure if this is a feature offered at all, but a setting to normalize the volume? i noticed since ive switched from streaming my music off of spotify to streaming it off of youtube that some songs are way louder then others. it can be annoying to have to adjust the volume at almost every song.

I had an AGPTek Rocker that I was using for a while. It fit all of your needs except for maybe volume normalization. Unfortunately, they don’t sell that model any more… But they sell a bunch of other models that are all very cheap and probably also fit most if not all of your needs.

Some of them have MicroSD card slots for expandable storage, which is the single most important feature an MP3 player should have, IMO. Here’s one that has one. And you can just search Amazon for “AGPTek” to see their other models on offer.

Now, as I said, I had a different model from them so I can’t speak for these newer ones. But I can say that the model I had was surprisingly decent quality for the low price tag. It wasn’t going to win any design or durability awards, but it lasted me a few years and it still works, I just upgraded to a better device. I mainly used custom Rockbox firmware on it (that’s why I got that model, it was built for Rockbox), but occasionally I used the built-in firmware for its bluetooth capability and it wasn’t bad.

One thing you can do is normalize the volume before loading it onto the mp3 player. Foobar2000 has a feature called ReplayGain that puts a tag into the metadata of the mp3 saying how much it needs to be increased or decreased in volume to be around 89db, this reddit thread is a good intro:

https://www.reddit.com/r/foobar2000/comments/xsziad/what_is_replaygain/

I assume that most mp3 players don’t support this method, BUT you can also use replaygain to modify the actual volume of the mp3 itself:

So if you’re okay doing some pre-processing of all your files before putting them on the player, that’s the option I’m aware of.

oh thanks!!! this is just what i needed. knowing what brand to look for will give me a lot of leeway in what im getting.

oh this sounds great!!!

also, between my last post and now i found my old 80gb ipod, with the scroll wheel and screen lol. turns out theres a big modding community for it and even a website that gives you the parts you need to replace the hdd with a sd card(s). sounds neat!!! will probably stick with getting a mp3 player for now, but its something to keep in my mind for later.
