Maybe we have a thread about this but I’ve been researching parts to build my custom PC but I’m not so sure it’s much cheaper/better than a pre-built Alienware.

I know in the past it’s been much cheaper to build your own PC and get higher quality but is that still true? Just from the light research I’ve done, a 1200$ Alienware would probably outpace most 15-17k PC builds? I suppose there are a lot of variables to my question, but my goal is to build something so I don’t need to buy an Xbox x. Generally speaking though, does it still make more sense to build your own or is the price gap negligible nowadays?

tbh I’m not too sure what the prebuilt market is like, I imagine it’s possible to get decent deals and such, but I think it’s almost inevitable that you’d end up with a third-tier SSD and a bad form factor
