If the top 100 resembles anything like an r/gaming top 100, then maybe it would be time to pack it up and begin again with SB3. But I doubt it will come to that.

Itād be cool if you placed games together in teams of 5 and they were stuck with each other for the whole bracket. [Doom, FF6, Tetris, King Kong, Zelda 2] vs. [Killer7, Splatoon 2, Super Metroid, Metroid 2 and The Last of Us].
That way you gotta average your passions within the team rather than within the bracket?

My argument isnāt that SB isnāt interesting itās that the process renders interesting folks opinions uninteresting by the process.
I mean hell, Dark Souls being the best game ever made according to SB would still be a really boring outcome to me? Same with doom which is almost certainly my favorite video game of all time!
I justā¦dunno what new insight this gives beyond āyeah SB likes these games that everyone knows SB likesā.

Yeah so you cast one vote for one team (it could be 3 on a team i just picked 5 out of the air) but you might vote a team so a specific game gets to the top (like if your favourite is on a team but you couldnāt care less about the other 4). I dunno if the team would win or if youād just do a 5-way vote at the end. If the list of nominees were solid then randomly assigning teams is probably fairest.
Just a suggestion but probably best to go with an option that requires as little explanation as possible while still keeping it engaging and fun.
i think having people nominate top tens, with 10 points for the top game, down to 1 point for the tenth game, and seeing what gets the most points would be better than a tournament bracket

Whatever ranking order you all come up with the organizer should at the end reverse the list and change all games tied for last place to tied for 1st place.

I mean the other side it is that it sounds cool at first but every step of the way gets less fun and exciting as stuff gets winnowed down is what Iām getting at.
But I guess I just feel stuff like this often ends up being all setup and no payoff.
But Iām probably being a dumbass from how cranky Iām feeling today about other stuff.

We could make a blacklist of games we donāt want to see on the list and make that into a game on its own. I live for this kind of thing though so any way we do it will be fun!

What I actually think makes this unappealing is that it directs the energies of a curious, passionate community to make a production around a tired question instead of an activity that encourages us to interact and share more than some shitposts

If people are worried about the results being boring, I could try and round up an underground set of SB merrymakers to try and throw off the results by rooting for clear underdogs and troll picks until we accomplish our goal of making Ski Free the communityās top choice once more.
