I’m going to try Unreal Gold this weekend, I don’t think I’ve ever played or watched more than just the very opening hour or so of this game. Anybody want to recommend a difficulty level? Like is this one of those games that’s obviously tuned for a particular difficulty setting, is what I’m asking.

I think I most recently played it on difficulty 3 of 4. Seemed nice and well tuned to me

I love the first iteration of the Unreal engine, it has such a distinctive look to me and I think a lot of that has to do with the use of color and I think Unreal (the game) did good job showcasing that

re: the microphone chat earlier, can i just buy a blue snowball and Create Great Content or am i going to need anything else? pop filter etc.
Don’t have a blue snowball but it looks like it could use a pop filter, yeah.
Also looks like it comes with a desk stand. Dunno how shock absorbent it is, but they can be trouble, picking up incidental bangs or bumps on your desk, or just hard typing, as thuds. Can help to put a folded cloth as a shock absorber underneath, or you can buy one of those fancy boom arms

Considering the huge difference between having a snowball on a desk vs having a snowball art arched to an adjustable arm I have attatched to my printer table,it made a huge difference in sound quality and I don’t even have a pop filter for it.

I was using a snowball for the first 30 or so episodes of no rangers allowed.
Absolutely do not use the included stand and get a cheap boom arm instead.

I am shamelessly interested in such a project.
Getting to the 100 contenders is the hard part. Would likely be biased by which games have been played by most people? Like an obscure game passionately beloved by 3 sbers might be displaced by a merely solid pick played by 12 sbers.

I’m totally down for it though. I feel like we might be in for a crazy game of kill your babies as we get closer to the winner.
Not to sound too cynical but stuff like this seems fun but it always leads to stuff like Tetris being the best game ever made.
The moment to moment voting is sort of exciting but at the end the winner is pretty much always just the median thing everyone has vaguely fond feelings about? So it gets less exciting as it goes as the things everyone really cares get winnowed away one by one, leaving only averages.

Honestly the most interesting parts of these ranked game lists are always the games with 1.5 or less placement points.

Actually this would be a good gimmick - once the list of 100 is settled, everybody PMs their guesses of what the Top 5 will be to some kind of designated bookkeeper
then, once the tournament has ended, whoever gets the closest wins… something
