Can anyone here recommend a website that sells used Japanese games? I hate eBay, and Yahoo Auctions seems too complicated. japangamestock.com was my go-to place but unfortunately they closed pretty recently (I think @Rudie may have recommended them once upon a time? Or maybe it was Anna Anthropy). Akiba-games.com also seems to have closed pretty recently.

Are there any examples of bots external to games that react to visual feedback roughly how a player would rather than being linked into the actual game logic?

I’m wondering how far we are from someone coding GBA Ecks vs Sever multiplayer bots or something like that.

best way to play silent hill 3 on pc?

In the most literal sense this has mostly been done with SMB1:

There’s also this Starcraft bot. They didn’t go as far as feeding the bot a video feed of Starcraft, but they tried to make the interface playerlike enough to prove it was winning through superior strategy:

It’s not exactly visual, but the Learnfun/Playfun AIs (mentioned in the article Broco posted, but the link there was dead) “watch” a player play NES game and then work out goals from that. The creator has videos showing their performance on a variety of NES games, which ranges from literal prodigy to lol. They’re interesting because they’re, to my untrained understanding, totally general to NES games with no game-specific hacks.

PC version might end up looking nicer than ps2 emulation because of higher native res but prob better off overall avoiding BS associated with getting early 00s pc ports running on modern systems. I found the default kb/m controls to be weirdly comfy though.

Does anyone know if this method might work for sharing games with friends on PS4?

On my console, login with my friends PSN account and download and install a game, then just disable the internet and play. This way they can play uninterrupted on their own console, and I can play their games through their account on my own console but offline.

I want to play TLOU2 but don’t want to give ND or Sony more monies.

I think you have to have the PS4 designated as the account’s primary console to allow digital purchases to be played without an internet connection to verify the license. So your friend would have to make your PS4 the primary console for their account to make that strategy work.

People do that strategy all the time, but I don’t know if Sony still limits how many times you’re able to change your primary console per some time period.

I hit a snafu when switching PS4s and the standard policy is a 1-year period between each prime-console change.

Hmm sounds like a bit much to ask someone to go through, haha. Thanks for the info.

mmm i think the cooldown period is only for, like, the emergency reset button online; i think whoever has possession of the primary console can go sign in and deactivate with no limits! been doing this for years, i have lots of broker-than-me friends

Yeah actually that sounds right.

That was it, that explanation is logical enough that I think you’re exactly right.
